What cult classic deserves a sequel?

I know, I know, they shouldn’t do anything that could jeopardize the greatness of the first movie, but c’mon…there must be at least one cult classic that you think deserves a sequel, or some other sort of follow-up. Which movie would you pick, and why?
I always wished the Goonies had a sequel. Even though that’s pretty much impossible now, some sort of follow-up would have been cool. Looking at it now, though, I kind of hope maybe they’ll make a prequel about their adventures prior to the first film. Perhaps in cartoon form? I dunno. I’m ranting.

It might be kind of interesting to see what happened to the Von Trapp family, after they moved to the United States. Of course it would still be a musical, but they would have to get new actors to play all of the parts.
I’d love to see a movie of Porno, the sequel, in book form, to Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting. Although that that book bases itself on Trainspotting the movie’s ending and not the book kinda pisses me off, even if it’s a small difference. XD
Goonies and Rocky Horror.
@Kardamom I love The Sound of Music…it’s always had a special place in my heart. I played Captain Von Trapp in my school’s production of it a couple years ago, and I’ve always loved the ambiguity of the ending. I think a sequel would kick ass!
@Symbeline I’ve heard Trainspotting was phenomenal! Would you recommend it?
@Jude Aww yeah! Rack ‘em up for the Goonies! I still need to see Rocky Horror..
@Joker94 Well, it’s pretty much my favourite book ever, and the movie is fantastic. It’s funny, disturbing, sad and wise. I totally recommend both the book or movie.
@Symbeline Trainspotting misled me. Tried diving into my toilet bowl. It doesn’t work!
Considering the advancement in tech when it comes to reading books and distractions from video games, I would love to see a sequel to the original Neverending Story movie. It’s lesson is so profound and one that deserves a revisit. ( forget the sequel that they did before )
@Jude Weren’t there already 2 sequels to Rocky Horror? I seem to recall Shock Treatment, and The Brad and Janet Story, or something like that.
EDIT: The Brad and Janet Show was a sequel, and was later reworked as Shock Treatment.
None of them. A cult movie is self contained and a sequel would only take away whatever delicate spell the original was able to cast. Even remakes of “cult” classics blow. Leave well enough alone and keep searching for the next precious nugget of guilty pleasure.
Don’t believe me? How about I pitch you Deliverance II: Lost In The ‘Hood?
love the mordecai avatar. Yeah-ah
@jonsblond . . . Jeremy Piven may have gotten fucked in Judgement Night but he didn’t get fucked like Ned Beatty did.
The Big Lebowski II: Little Lebowski
I agree with @Blondesjon If you mess with a sequel to some classic cult movie, you will devalue the original.
The entire point of being recognised as a “cult” movie negates any desire to make a puny inferior sequel. Ahh, I see @Blondesjon delivers the point ahead of me….message ends.
@Cruiser Return to Oz, made back in the 80’s, was a worthy sequel to the Wizard of Oz.
@ddude1116 Right on! Big Lebowski must have a sequel!
Maybe there could be an awesome Pulp Fiction sequel.
A movie makes such an impact, originality wise that one tends to assume a sequel would ruin it. One, because I guess all sequels pale in comparison to the first one. The goal was more about profit not exploring more what was good on the original, give it a new twist.
Depends on which cult classic then. If it deserves another go, fine with me. I love having seconds. I enjoyed The Lethal Weapon series. Didn’t suck much. But other cult classic films really do not need any sequels. Can’t blame them for trying though. Problem is they do it lackadaisically.
@cockswain Tarantino apparently wanted to do a prequel to that and Reservoir Dogs with John Travolta’s and Michael Madsen’s characters, but dropped the idea because of the actors’ ages..
@Blondesjon I seriously just lol’d. Thanks for the compliment, dude!
@pezz & @ucme I agree that making a sequel won’t always be the best option, but if it’s handled with care and appreciation, I don’t see why not.
@cockswain I would be all on board for some more Pulp Fiction.
@all On a semi-related note, did anyone hear about the upcoming cartoon series based on Napoleon Dynamite? I kind of have high hopes for it. They got the entire cast to reprise their roles, too, which was definitely a step in the right direction.
@ddude1116 Maybe he could do a thing where Samuel Jackson runs into Bruce Willis while Jackson is walking the Earth (like Cain, in “Kung Fu”). Throw a little Marcellus Wallace in there, perhaps a gimp or two, and you’ve got a movie!
@cockswain That’s not a bad idea, actually. I’d dig a Tarantino-take on the spiritual journey..
This might be a stupid idea or really cool, I’m not sure: make a Tarantino movie with with Jules from Pulp Fiction, Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs, and The Bride. That might be awesome.
But that’s the beauty of Tarantino, a lot of the concepts of his movies sound really stupid yet are really smart films.
Sure, but I’m no Tarantino. That idea might be awful. But maybe he could make it awesome, I don’t know. I’d like to see a kung fu fight between Samuel Jackson and Uma Thurman for sure. Maybe with light sabers and lots of yelling.
@cockswain Tarantino hinted that he might do a Kill Bill Vol. 3.
