What is the best app for android, ipone, ipod touch, ipad etc...

Asked by pezz (1291points) August 29th, 2011

It’s easy to find lists of “Best App for..” on the internet. But what is everybodies personal favorite. The one that you can’t do without. The most fun. The most useful. And why.

I seem to spend a lot of time playing the Texas Hold’em Poker app provided for free from the good folks at Pokerist.com.

You’re playing against real people but you don’t have to spend real-world money to wager. Human beings bring a variability and playability to the game that random algorithmic fluctuations from a computer player can’t simulate.

Plus you can invite your friends, clean ‘em out, and then send ‘em more chips to make nice. Fun for all!

There’s different apps for different things. There’s games, apps for organization, browsers etc. It’s a really vague question.

@Blackberry I know…I was asking what, you as a user thought…or did you miss that

@pezz Oh, I like Angry Birds, and Draw Slasher. I also like the Alarm Clock, Shazam, and Dictionary.

Dropbox. I don’t use it nearly as frequently as others, but when I do, it’s quite often a lifesaver. Like today, being able to get the scanned syllabus of one of my classes and find out when that professor’s office hours were and where the damn office was. The rest are all Android-specific, or only for on the go, or… I dunno. I have tons of apps for my iPad, but never use any of them except the web browser and ebook reader.

On my DroidX…

UsefulezPDF Reader – I have a ton (a few GB worth) of PDF copies of my favorite tabletop RPG/strategy game rulebooks. The hardcopy equivalent is three shelves worth of 8½“x11” hardcover books, and it’s really nice to be able to carry a couple of hundred pounds worth of books in my pocket.

UsefulAlarm Klock – As many alarms as you want/need (instead of just three) with customization options such as repeating on certain days, how long the snooze button delays for, etcetera.

Fun – Entirely dependent on taste. I like Cyberpunk RPGs, of which there are a couple on the Android Market. I also like non-Cyberpunk RPGs; I am currently running through Xenonia 3. Then there is Pobs; it’s a little like Othello/Reversi, and I have wasted many hours on it.
