@Cruiser, I was going to say the same thing.

She may not be of legal age yet, but I don’t think anyone can force her to get rid of the unborn baby, and that includes those close to her, unless the baby is endangering the girl’s life. Unfortunately, it’s the poor baby who will suffer the most, either from being raised by an ineffectual, incapable mother, or being treated as an outcast by others, or both.

No one wins but I agree with the others in that the child is likely to lose out most by not being an unwelcome addition to the family no one is excited to prepare for or make serious future plans for. I kinda wish people took this into account when they gamble to have sex.

What makes people think the child will be the biggest loser? I would love to hear details on that.

For those who live around sheltered and perfect people, I will ask you all a relationship question. I myself am smart enough to figure those out, but we don’t have enough of those on Fluther…….so…...

@lillycoyote et al I’m afraid you seem to have missed both your time and your calling. In my opinion, I think you could have made a very handy living writing for these magazines during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s I don’t see how as to many of the things that people seem to take quite common today wasn’t tolerated back then or in the 60s during most of my childhood. If any of it did happen, you were lucky to hear of it as it was hushed up quick, and quite effectively. Today might be the land of 2nd base being a hand job or a blow job, you would have never gotten there anywhere less than six months of hard work if not more, back in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, even a major part of the 70s.

I don’t live in a gated community and many of the things that happen around here might make a lot of Jellies run for the hills. The conversations had, and the events that happen in families lives are not the Bradys or the Huckstables. You don’t have to pay attention, there are tons of ignorant teens here who need someone to show them if the person they think of boinking on the third date really loves them or not. ;-o

@Hypocrisy_Central I’m sorry. I was just joking. One of my very, absolutely, favorite human beings in the entire world is my friend Mia. She is 8 years old. Her mother was 14 when she had her. Her family, hers and mine, have lived next door to each other for over 45 years; I knew her great-grandparents. Do you know what it’s like to have known someone’s great-grandparents when you are far from decrepit, when you’re only in your late forties and early fifties? It’s kind of crazy. Trust me.

@lillycoyote Her mother was 14 when she had her. That type of thing seem to happen far too common these days. When I was in school, you had to put in about 6 solid months minimum, being a good b/f before you even got to second base, you might in a ghost of a chance got the outside the clothes but not inside.

Not to mention some very crazy things people decide to divulge, possible acts that could be crimes, actual crimes, crimes they witnessed but never told about. Many time I want to say TMI, I don’t care to know that. I even heard a tale where a mother set her 16yr old daughter up with a 22yr old guy. Then tried to blackmail him, by saying if he didn’t pay X amount out of each paycheck she was going to file a report that he had sex with the daughter. He didn’t, but…..we know where that would go The lie will be half way around the globe before the truth even got out of bed to put its shoes on.

I am hardly shocked by anything these days.
