What is the worst music album/LP you've ever brought?
I have brought some terrible albums in the past, many terrible rap tapes from when I was younger…when you look through your music collection, what’s the one piece that just makes you cringe?

I never liked Tonto’s Expanding Headband . I’m not sure how I ended up with it, I have no recollection of buying it but it was the early 1970’s strange things happened.
In the mid to late 80’s (86–88’) I was really into speed/thrash metal.. shit like Metallica and Slayer. They both released excellent albums during that time (Master of Puppets and Reign in Blood), records that were groundbreaking in the genre. During that same period, a band called Megadeth existed that was considered to be in the same league – their frontman Dave Mustaine was a former member of Metallica for god’s sake – so it was pretty natural for me to snap up their album Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying? despite having never heard any of their material beforehand. Well, it sucked. Sucked bad. I think I listened to 4 songs before ejecting the tape and throwing it into the trash. I’m still mad about it.
Do your own homework. ;-p
I bought a Tom Waits album and I had to return it. Though I know I know lots of people really like him. Just don’t know why.
@Incoherency_ You made me laugh!
I picked up a greatest hits album by Helen Reddy. Loads of hit songs, none of which I could stand.
A band called “Flesh for Lulu.” It was terrible.
@lemming – I love Tom Waits, although I must qualify that a bit. I love some of his stuff (Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Bone Machine type of stuff – not the ballads so much).
The worst I ever bought was “Youknowwhatthisis volume 2” by The Game.
“The Temple City Kazoo Orchestra”
Of course, I bought it as a bit of a joke, mainly because it was pressed on “mufti-colored disco vinyl” (I kid the not).
This little beauty contained such hits as the The Rolling Stones “Miss You” as well as a rousing rendition of “My Sharona” played on kazoo.
YIKES!
Great Western Themes. This bought with real money when I was a teenager. I mean, some cracking music in westerns, The Good The Bad & The Ugly, Fistful Of Dollars etc, but buying an album of the bloody things!?! What the fuck was I on?
I cringe when I remember passing time, listening to, “Vanilla Ice, Ice, baby” and the other retarded songs on that tape. It’s embarassing to even admit paying money for it.
I bought Focus to get the song hocus pocus, but the rest of the album was pretty bad. Thank goodness for the iTunes store.
@blueiiznh – Just curious if you were one of the 300 who bought the original pressing or did you get the 2006 release?
It’s interesting because people talk about their music tastes changing, and mine does, but what it does is that more music is added to the list of music I “like”, but nothing is taken away. Some things are moved back a little, but nothing is removed. I don’t think I’ve ever stopped like certain music.
I mean, when I first bought a CD of Schoenberg’s violin works I thought it was atonal crap and I hated it, but I’ve grown to appreciate it now…
@ucme May your tongue be pecked out by a thousand buzzards for saying such things (ok, your fingers for typing such things). Ennio Morricone is a god.
I still like all the recordings I’ve purchased.I don’t buy music on a whim.
@ucme I love the soundtrack to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I loved it so much I checked out Morricone’s other stuff. Which is mostly cheesy crap.
@GladysMensch & yes, you too @cockswain I love the tunes, as I think I mentioned. It’s just, actually buying an album…on purpose, whilst sober!?!
I figure the guy that does the whistling on that album should never have to buy himself a beer in any bar on Earth.
Yes, I bet his dogs get a hard on everytime he beckons with said whistle.
@YoBob original pressing. I did not buy it for it’s musical value :D
I’m still hoping to stumble across this gem.
@tom_g – Gee, I didn’t even know my mother in law had an album!!!!!
