Google? says something like “In case your account gets highjacked or you loose your password” it says.
Are 2 alternate email accounts not enough for that purpose?
And if it gets highjacked doesn’t it mean they are not good at their security?
And also won’t the cellphone number and the 2 alternate addresses get highjacked as well?
How about people who share a cellphone?

No, I certainly wouldn’t. Too much information about me is out there already.
If I am asked I give my old neighbors cell with instructions to keep trying if no answer.
I give @Cruiser‘s number with instructions to keep trying if no answer. And to try after midnight.
Dangit @chyna! Now I will have them send you as Dixieland Band if no answer!
Not any more. I did it once and was immediately sent a slew of text messages. The only way to stop it was to call the cell phone carrier. I think they credited the charges incurred. Lesson learned.
I always give fake phone numbers if they require that I enter one. I get enough wrong numbers and automatic calling services calling me already!
I do when it’s necessary for confirmation of the account, otherwise, no.
No. If it’s a requirement I will look elsewhere for another email provider.
