Something that doesn’t involve primitive methods of humiliating and hurting people.
Nor advanced, modern methods of humiliating and hurting people.
A silly little slap dance, involving very few clothes & hearty grin.
Initiation into what? That might help.
@Aethelflaed Oh yes, of course, although I was suggesting that it’s all primitive :)
Just don’t be creepy. Like that thing some Wiccans do with the “perfect love and perfect trust” while someone’s holding a fucking dagger to them. Talk about creepy.
Well I guess that rules out all my ideas. They were both primitive and humiliating. Those are the best kinds of initiations.
Make them eat a whole fruit cake….that will show dedication and determination.
@Blackberry I figured as much, I just wanted to clarify that it’s also not acceptable to be all “Oh, but we used an iPad, so I guess we’re in the clear”. Because that’s totally how I’d justify that shit :D
Find a secluded wooded area. Make a “path” of charcoals and light it up. Let it ash over good and long, until it’s mostly ash, but there are still glowing embers remaining.
Do this at night, and “blindfold” your new members, but let them see enough just to see the glowing embers.
Before you make them walk the path, put ice on the bed of coals.
One, they won’t burn their feet anyway, b/c if you let it ash enough, there will be no burn threat, but TWO AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, b/c their senses are limited, they will feel the freezing ice and think their feet are burning.
I went through it, I found out what it was, I laughed and appreciated it, and was proud to prove that my care for the group was strong enough to empower me to be willing to walk on burning coals… even though i didn’t have to.
@incendiary_dan I used to be Wiccan thank you very much,do not judge other religions.
the idea is for it to humiliating because it’s a test to see where someone morals stand
@cliofaye How is that judging wiccans? If he feels something is creepy, then that’s his opinion and how he feels about it.
@cliofaye Yeah, he didn’t say that the entirety of Wicca was bullshit, he said this one practice that some (not all) Wiccans do is creepy. How is that really any different than saying “transubstantiation is a bit creepy” but not saying all of Christianity is bullshit?
@Aethelflaed his opinion was offensive and should’ve been kept to himself.
@cliofaye Well, if it was flame-bait, which includes hate speech, then you could have flagged it as such and had the mods look at it. However, it’s also important to not silence people and opinions; critiquing religion allows them to grow. Without a critique of religion, Wicca would never have come around as a religion.
