What do the red yellow and green orbs mean online in Super Smash Bros. Brawl?

im taking a total shot in the dark with this cause ive yet to play online but im guessing yellow means the system is on but they are away while red is just offline.

No, because one of my friends doesn’t HAVE a light. And apparently he was just on (I can see his avatar now)

Red is being now off from formally being in on “online state” and yellow is idle or your lagging? Thats my guess.

That would be because that is what he had last time he was logged on. Again found on google. Also direct quote from the Super Smash Brothers Brawl manual.

“Friends you’ve played with online before will have a colored ball in their profile. This ball indicates the quality of the connection you had in previous games.”
