Do you wish your parent(s) had given you a different first name?
From the vantage point of where you are now and no doubt you already like or have come to accept the first name that landed on your birth certificate, just fantasize for a moment and re-name yourself another name you like. Isn’t it fun, because you don’t have to give away your real first name, just invent another that you like.

I like my first name.
The boy name that they picked out for me, I would have liked that, as well = Christian.
My dad named my sister. My mom named my brother. I came last, and my sister is my only living sibling, so it was her turn. She named me, and I like it. As a kid I wasn’t thrilled to not have a simpler girls name like Amy or Jenny or Jane…but as an adult, I love my name.
My boy name would’ve been “Larry” mine is the female version and they called me by it whenever someone said what a cute boy I was. I had no hair until after 2
I love it so much, I didn’t change it one bit when I got married, either.
I like my name, it is not a common name and it is my dad’s and his dad’s name and his grandfathers name…and now my son’s name as well.
No one calls me by my first name and haven’t done since I was maybe 6 or 7. Everyone calls me by my middle name, most people have no clue that my middle name is not in fact my first name! I like my middle name, I never really think about my first name.
I’m glad I have the name that I do, but my parents were also strongly considering the name “Avery” for me. I think I would’ve also liked that one very much. But it’s hard to imagine myself with any other name.
Yes, I always did from a very young age. So, I changed my first name legally when I was in my 40s.
@DominicX my grandparents wanted to name me Avery.
My parents wanted to name me Rafael for a while, but they settled on Michael instead. I kind of wish they had named me Rafael. That would have been badass.
I occasionally wish that I could legally change my name without hurting any feelings. I love the name Nina for some reason.
I like both my first and middle names. They’re pretty common names and there was always at least one other girl with my name in my classes, and often 2 or 3. I would not liked to have stood out, namewise, in a crowd or a classroom when I was a kid.
My last name, although it is pronounced exactly like it is spelled, no one can ever say it or spell it correctly. Just today, I had to repeat the spelling of it to a cashier 4 times. I kept telling her it’s spelled exactly how it’s sounds. Once she finally wrote it down as I was slowly spelling it out to her for the 4th time, she said, “Oh, just like it sounds? Right?” Yes! So I’ve had embarrassing incorrect pronunciations of my last name since day one and it’s no picnic.
I don’t know anyone with my name, but I like it.
I like my name, although its a bit foreign, but all the same its good. My mom said its unique. Very few have my name.
I was teased unmercilessly for my first name for 8 years so I shortened it and used the shortened version for 20 years. But I love my name now. It is fairly unique and lovely so I use it all the time now.
I kinda do. I’d never change it later in life, but I don’t much like it and kind of wish I’d been given a different one in the first place. Everybody is named Rachel; it’s just a very boring name imo.
I did not like my first name growing up, as everyone would say, “But that’s a boy’s name!” I wanted to shake them and say, “No, it isn’t because I’m not a boy!” It got tiresome. It wasn’t until I got older and people would say that they liked it or thought it was unique. The only issue I have with it now is when I have to answer the phone at work. I’ve stopped saying my name, which has helped. Sometimes a customer will say, “And who am I speaking to?” Then I give my name. Then I repeat it. Then I spell it. At that point they either get it or say, “Well, what I’m calling about is…”
I like my real name. It has a one syllable familiar version, and a two syllable formal version. Guys usually call me by the short version, girls usually call me by the long version. No complaints.
I like my first name because it’s cool. It’s my geeky middle name that I don’t like. Lol.
MR. Shiny Shoes, is Shiny you’re middle name?
XD jk, don’t take it personally
@kamikaze No, my middle name sounds like a shepard boy’s name. Erg! Lol——anything shiny is never uncool!
Ehhh. Ash-Leigh’s not so bad.
It’s annoying having to explain that there’s a hyphen in my name though. Haha.
I think being named Daily would be cool. :)

I love my name because of the meaning behind it. I was named after my grandmother who died when my dad was about 12 years old. He and his brothers loved her so much they vowed to name their first daughter after her so I share my name with my cousins. I’m told she was the most loving and kind person in the world and I’m very happy to be named after her.
I’m Katharine. I think it is a beautiful name and I am very happy my mother named me that. Women named Katharine and various permutations thereof are strong and do great things.
If I had been a boy, I would have been Daniel which is also a great name and I think I would have been equally as happy with it.

Is Laura or Lauren the female version?
I’ve never met anyone with my name and don’t know of anyone with my name spelling…pain in the neck when I was younger but very glad it’s unique now. I find many people with more unusual names tend to really fit them by being a bit more unique/expressionate/outgoing. I like this because then it feels like you grew into the name your parents gave you
I prefer my middle name over my first name. I don’t hate my first name (Tiffany), but I don’t feel that it really fits me (though who can say?) and it certainly isn’t on my list of favourite names. I like ‘odd’ names, but I guess it’s easier to say that when you don’t have one.
I hated my name when I was young because no one else had it. Well, one other person did. Jack and Chrissy’s roommate.
I love my name now. It’s Janet, dammit. I don’t want another name. =)
I would have been named Greg. My grandmother knitted me a blue and white blanket before I was born. They were sure I was going to be a boy. Fooled them. :P
Okay, if no one else is going to say it…
Dammit, Janet, I love you!
No, I love my name. When I was younger though I wanted to be named Amy. That was another name my parents had considered. If I had to pick a new name it would be Fiona.
