How to invite for a 1v1 in StarCraft2 ?

For someone that is not on your friends list. Can you provide a step by step answer?

You have to invite them to a group with you, I’m pretty sure you can manually type in a name or highlight it from an old game with them and click “invite to group.” From there the 1v1 would have to be a custom game, battlenet won’t let you join 1v1 as a group.
