Remember her? I’m not that old!
Dame Vera Lynn?? The famous lady for singing the WW2 “There will be bluebirds over the white cliff’s of Dover”? She is still alive and kicking to my knowledge. She is an icon over here.
“Vera, Vera… what has become of youuu?”
I need to get back to reading this case study.
It’s also Cockney slang for gin, right?
Yes of course! In the movie Hellboy, she was singer that played on the gramma phone…“We’ll meet again”
Yep. Don’t remember her, but her song, We’ll Meet Again (also a WWII song, I believe)
Yup. @rebbel one of the iconic WWII songs.
Remember her? She’s still going strong at 94. She was top of the UK pop charts in August 2009.
There you go with your bad self, naming names again.
Remember how she said that we would meet again, some sunny day?
Those who don’t know who she is lack an edumacation in the music department which needs to be fixed immediately.
the psuedo-gay dude in the center square?
Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?
I love The Wall, but the mention of Vera Lynn always makes me think of the end of Dr. Strangelove, not PF.
Before my time, sorry. But maybe if I become Comfortably Numb, I could visualize her…
I am in the middle of reading “Pottsdam Station,” by David Downing. It is a WWII espionage novel that takes place predominantly in Berlin -1939 – 1945.
MId-read last night, I came on a sentence that mentioned Vera Lynn and her singing “We’ll Meet Again.” That gave me a frisson.
@HungryGuy What do you mean before your time? She’s still alive! And there was an album release of hers in 2009 that topped the UK billboards (Not Ireland though, this is the one thing I disappointed with with the Irish)
