Why does this ancient email keep showing up in my "drafts" folder?

For the past week I’ve been trying, unsuccessfully, to delete a draft of an email I’ve already sent out. I’ve tried deleting the draft through Mail and I’ve also tried deleting it directly on the server, and yet every time I close in and out of Mail and/or check my mail on the actual server the draft still shows up. It’s like a crazy ex!
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
