for example, you just wash your hand then get some ice out of the freezer but the cubes stick to the bits you didn’t dry properly…horrible feeling! Why does this happen?

because the cold from the icecubes freezes the water on your hand.
Like @ragingloli said, but it’s not just “the water on your hand” that has frozen. At that point your skin is wet; it’s actually the outer layer of your skin freezing to the frozen surface of whatever you’re handling. And that’s why it feels so bad: you risk actual injury if your skin is wet enough, the contact is extensive enough, the surface is cold enough, and you maintain the contact for long enough. You can rip off some skin that way.
That makes more sense because it’s so hard to get it off! Thanks :)
Because the moisture on your fingers freezes when it comes in contact with the ice.
@über
I knew exactly what that clip would portray before I even clicked it :)
I love that movie and watch it at least once or twice each year when Turner does it’s 24hr. continuous rerun of it.
Plus, a few years ago, I bought a T-shirt with a pic of that scene on it from one of the movie stills.
I’ve even been known to wear it in the middle of summer rather than just one week per year :)
