Did you know that today we are celebrating Grandparents Day?
I only remember one grandparent and she loved me to death. She was a full-blood Cherokee Indian. She allowed me to do things, that my parents would never allow and I thank her for that. So, today, I am celebrating my one grandparent, that I remember. Question: did you have a grandparent(s) that gave you good memories as a child?

Not until just now looking at my calendar.
I grew up with one set of grandparents. My grandfather died when I was 18. He was like a father to me (more of a father than my actual father was). My grandmother is still alive and she is still the same as she was when I was younger, just now she spoils the great-grandchildren instead of us grandchildren. :)
I have never heard of grandparent’s day prior to this post, but we did celebrate my grandmother’s birthday a week ago. I have only ever known one grandparent and she has brought me many a good memory. When I was very little, both of my parents worked so my grandmother was my partial caretaker. She would record movies for me to watch, knew all my favourite meals, and never forgot a birthday. I’m thankful to have her in my life.
My maternal grandmother passed before I was born and my maternal grandfather passed when I was an infant. My paternal grandfather was absent from my life. He passed when I was in elementary school.
Yes, my grandfather used to take me fishing with bamboo poles in ponds. He gave me butter rum lifesavers, which he always carried. And he was a singer with a good bass voice.
My grandmother played the piano, and she was a real performer.
My other grandmother was much quieter, but she instilled in me her love of flowers and gardening.
My grandma (my dad’s mum). She was the most wonderful, beautiful lady I have ever known. I loved her so much. We always had so much fun, and she gave so much love. She taught me so much. I don’t think she was truly appreciated by my grandad, and I’m sure he knew that when she passed away. I wish she was still here. Thank you for making me think of her.
I’ve recently become the grandmother to a bouncing little girl kitten my daughter and her boyfriend adopted. lol
Hey, gotta start somewhere, instead of shopping at “Babies R us ” I can live with shopping at Petsmart.
” Oooh, she’d look so cute in red! ” haha
Coloma, great and cute answer. thanks for answering. jp
@john65pennington
As long as I don’t buy them a cat stroller, I think I’ll be okay. ;-)
@Coloma Ok then I suppose that makes me a gram pa taking care of our son’s cat because the apartment he recently moved into forbids pets. It works for me:)
my sister just just just called me to make sure I knew. which I didn’t :[
I didn’t know that. I’ve just informed my mother who happens to be a grandmother and it’s put a nice smile on her face :-)
Apparently…...MY KIDS AND GRANDKIDS DON’T KNOW THAT!! LOL! : )
Btw…a big “Happy Grandparents Day! ” to all.
Well, thank you granddaughter Coloma!
Guess I better text the kids and get them with the program. A grandmother’s work is never done!
No I did not. I should contact my relatives too and let them know ^^
I texted my children. Laid a nice guilt trip on them. Heh!!
I didn’t know that. But I found this thread while visiting my grandmother, which is a pleasant coincidence.:)
NOT ONE OF THEM HAS RESPONDED!!!
Grandkids at ground zero..well shit, time to break out the bribes. haha
Humph. One responded. She texted, ‘Oh! Didn’t know! Happy Old People’s day!” Brat.
All my grandparents died before I was born or when I was very young. It really sucked not having that relationship.
