Why are my answers being deleted?

Asked by CaptainHarley (22452points) September 12th, 2011

On this question: http://www.fluther.com/129895/what-is-the-cause-for-the-sudden-increase-in-price-for/#quip2187737 several answers were deleted, one of which was mine. So far as I can remember my answer directly addressed the question, and I have NO idea why it was deleted. I submit that answers which are embarrassing to Obama administration policies are being deleted. I find this dispicable and unacceptable.

This is what you posted: “Welcome to the wonderful world of greedy politicians, venal officials, and a Federal Reserve that stinks to high heaven. Brace yourself, ‘cause you ain’t seen nuffin yet! : (”

The question was very specific and in the General section. Your reply didn’t answer the actual question, that I can see. I didn’t even read it as being directed to the Obama administration, so that had nothing to do with its removal. As you noted, several other responses were also removed, and those answers had nothing to do with politics.

For the record, we prefer that you ask a moderator directly when you have a question about moderation. However, since you seem convinced that we have some nefarious intention when you are moderated, I figured I’d let this remain public. Wouldn’t want you to think we’re trying to silence you. I swear, we are not. Moderation is not personal.

I have no idea how to contact a moderator directly.

@CaptainHarley PM Augustlan (or your favorite mod) or click on the contact button on the top of the screen to get a moderator. You can also go into chat and into Tidepool help sometimes someone is online.

@CaptainHarley You know who at least some of the mods are, and you know who I am, right? Just send me a PM. :)

A complete list of moderators can be found here.

Since this isn’t “General”, can one ask who is the very model of a model modern moderator? If it is not Auggie of course….

You know it’s a slow question day at Fluther when the “why are my answers getting deleted” questions by veterans stay posted.

Since I was the OP of the question @CaptainHarley asked about, may I have it moved to Social so I can see the moderated answers?

How does one go about switching sections anyway? Do I flag the question? I sound like such a newb. ;)

@jonsblond You could flag the question, click the “something else” bubble and put your request in the little box, or you could PM Auggie and offer her cookies.

I’d love to think you typed this question while stamping your feet & banging your fists on the desk, I really would ;¬}

@ucme

Eat your heart out! LMAO!

@jonsblond Your wish is my command. The question has been moved to Social, and the moderated answers have been restored. :)

So now do we need this question any more?

zensky's avatar

Are we still here?

jonsblond's avatar

@zensky there is a stop following button in the upper right hand corner ;)

-Sorry I’m new.—Thanks jonsblondesjon.

@Jeruba Probably not at the moment, but I thought it would be instructive for other folks who feel persecuted by moderation. Having the conversation here, in public, as the asker wished, shows that there is nothing underhanded going on, and I’d kind of like to be able to point to it in the future.

The mods beat me down, they stomped me! Wait, it was @augustlan that got me back on Fluther after the big upgrade…...I wasn’t beat down but helped….. Oh Snap! I can’t rant and rage about anything

C’est la vie ;-P
