Has anyone ever actually died while waiting for intelligent life to enter the Watering Hole chat room?

I was just curious to see how long it takes to see life…

It depends on how close to the speed of light the space ship’s velocity is.

that sounded kinda wrong…

I’m in there now. Plenty of intelligence! ~

Dog's avatar

Whooo hooo!

Berserker's avatar

Also if someone did die while waiting, how do you expect them to answer? XD

josie's avatar

Just can’t seem to figure it out. Keyboard skills may be part of the problem.

Dog's avatar

@Symbeline indeed…. hence my question. Hard to tell if they are dead or logged off…

I often peek in and there never seems to be anyone there. I always blame it on the time difference. When I am sitting here looking for a chat, all those on the other side of the world are sleeping!

KateTheGreat's avatar

Hehe. Sometimes it gets pretty boring. However, crazy things happen when there areva lot of people in there. ;)

XOIIO's avatar

I died inside.

incendiary_dan's avatar

Clearly people are actually going in. I occasionally go into chatrooms just to clear out the people who didn’t log out of the chats properly, and thus stayed signed in when they were gone.

LoL! When I first read this question, I though you were asking about SETI. :-p

Berserker's avatar

What’s SETI?

XOIIO's avatar

S earch for E xtra T errestrial I ntelligence

Berserker's avatar

Oh LOL.

…who says they haven’t been here though…

HungryGuy's avatar

In SETI, the “Watering Hole” refers to the radio frequency of about 1420 MHz, which is the natural resonant frequency of Hydrogen (the first element in the Periodic Table) and is in a region in the radio spectrum where the background radio noise is at its lowest. Thus, scientists predict this is an obvious frequency that aliens would be broadcasting their SETI signals and would be listening for ours. It’s been called informally the “Watering Hole” as a play on Hydrogen and the place where we’re likely to meet our neighbors.

There is going to be a party in the Watering Hole chat room today at 4:00 pm EST, or 1:00 Pacific time, or 9:00 GMT, so in about thirty minutes. Get the word out, PM everyone you know. We are going to try and break the Fluther record for most people in the chat room at the same time…

Nobody’s dying today, babes!

FutureMemory's avatar

I slept til about 7pm EST. Too bad I missed it. How many people showed up?
