I am working on my fifth erotic story, and have been told by some people that they would like to see it happen. Thus , leaving me wonder how far I could go with my writing, and wondering where to learn the proper format for it.

I think you might be able to!
Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Give it a shot and see what happens.
Sure, but be aware that film scripts and prose manuscripts are completely different animals.
First, it’s write, not wright.
Second, porn scripts don’t need writing. People aren’t watching for the smart dialogue.
Third, your script will film better if it’s rolled up, and looks like a dick.
If you want to go with erotic film, rather than porn, you might be wiser. Erotic detective stories are often good moneymakers.
I’m pretty sure anyone who has finished junior high can write porno.
<man walks into room> “What’s up babe, finishing your (college) homework?”
<woman puts down pen, takes off reading glasses> “Just finished!”
<20 minutes of sex>
The End.

Nobody wants to watch porn for an interesting story though. At least the vast majority of people don’t.
@cockswain – My fans often comment positively on the plot details and surprise endings I sometimes put into my stories. Just sayin’... :-p
Are you talking about movies or writing?
I’m up for that. Porn movies masquerading as erotic films. I would not mind being teased and lured by a great narrative sexual foreplay before the hot fucking scene. It should be 20 minutes tops with possibly 3 to 4 sex scenes lasting 2 to 3 minutes each. And none of those costumed erotica bullshit. Make it real. Make it raw. There are potentially good porn actresses out there who would be way hotter having sex half-naked. Put them into highly combustible sexual situations and I’ll be popping popcorn and beer. Oh, so many story possibilities!
Yes. Wright something and post it here.
If you want to write a screenplay, there are plenty of books to tell you how. The format is very highly prescribed. Ben Brady’s book was recommended to me by a friend who works for a Hollywood producer; she said it’s still sound even if not recent.
There’s also software such as Final Draft and Movie Magic to help you do it. My friend said just about all the scripts they handle are written with one or the other. She also guided me to The Writer’s Store as a well-stocked source.
If a real screenplay is what you want.
@Jeruba – Yes. If he wants to write a screenplay (even if it’s a porno) it has to be as a correctly-formatted script.
I think that popular erotic is one of the toughest genres to write. Everyone has their own wavelength and you can’t tune your script to meet all reader’s fundamental wavelength. So everyone responds it’s either too much or too little. And then the tone is either too juvenile of it takes too long to get to the good stuff. I think that’s why they shoot first and write the story later. Or in another movie.
@cockswain I would actually like a good plot now and then. “Now and then” being the keywords.
Dare I suggest that it also depends on your intended demographic? Men like to get right to the action and don’t waste a single second on that artsy-fartsy “plot” nonsense. Whereas women like a little “foreplay,” i.e. character and plot development leading up to the fun bits, and a little bit of resolution after. Just sayin’ from experience…
@HungryGuy Men like to get right to the action and don’t waste a single second on that artsy-fartsy “plot” nonsense.
Speak for yourself, tough guy!
