I’m travelling to Berlin in a few weeks, and figured it could be fun to watch some movies set there before going. Cold war spy movies immediately come to mind, but which ones (of any type) can you recommend?

It’s an okay movie, but Unknown is set in Berlin.
Here’s a list of the top ten, according to one critic.
Google “films in Berlin” and you’ll get a huge sample.
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold is set in Berlin but I think it was filmed in the UK.
Berlin Express
The Big Lift
The Bourne Supremacy
Run, Lola, Run
Funeral In Berlin
@janbb The Third Man is set Venice.
@Lightlyseared Thanks for the correction. I wasn’t sure and was too lazy to look it up!
Although now that I have looked it up, it’s set in Vienna actually.
@janbb Well I got the V bit right :). (I probably should have googled too). Any hoo it was filmed in the UK.
Flightplan starts in Berlin
The Bourne movies have scenes in Berlin
Inglorious Basterds (during WW 2)
Life Of Others (East Berlin in the 80s)
Downfall (WW 2)
The Reader (WW 2 again, I think)
M (one of the greatest movies ever, at least movies from Germany)
Valkyrie (WW 2)
Cabaret (1930s in Berlin)
One Two Three
there are probably quite a few more German language movies set in Berlin, which will probably be difficult to get in other countries, e.g.
Christiane F. (drug scene in the late 70s)
The Edukators
Sonnenalle (GDR era)
The Elementary Particles
Liegen lernen
Herr Lehmann (West Berlin in the 80s immediately before the fall of the Berlin Wall)
The Big Lift about the Berlin airlift in 1948 was partially set in Berlin. beat me to it @marinelife
Goodbye, Lenin!!
It’s not a cold war spy film but a comedy that takes place at the time of the reunification of Germany. And it’s a really good movie.
@Everyone: The Third Man is set and filmed in Vienna. The famous scene of the ferris wheel is a highlight of the movie. (Oops. I see that @@janbb fixed it.)
Prater
My father is crazy about Funeral in Berlin. Notable not only for being set in ‘60s Berlin and starring Michael Caine, but also for depicting spies and their work in a much more realistic light than is usual.
Some of The Baader Meinhof Complex is set in Berlin.
