If I wanted to get a job aboard a cruise ship, how would I do that exactly?

Asked by Afos22 (3990points) September 17th, 2011

I think it would be cool to get a job on a cruise ship. I live in NJ, so it isn’t like there are cruise ships passing me all the time with signs posted “now hiring”. I looked online for a little bit, and I found a website cruiselinejob.com, but that doesn’t seem like a good start or a lot of help.

Any tips or pointers on what I should do to get a job on a cruise ship. And I’m saying I would do pretty much any job that I would be qualified for, so that should widen my possibilities.

There’s a few on there that say “no experience required.” So, thank you?

You need to send an application or apply online with each individual cruise company.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises have ships that sail from New Jersey. I would start with those two companies if you don’t want to move.

I think your best bet is to Go to each company,s website and they all have a careers section.

Not sure what’s up with the hostility; it seems like a very fun and cool job to me and if you take the application seriously you might have a shot at it.

You could apply with Parkwest Gallery
They do the cruise art sales and you wouldn’t get stuck cleaning toilets on your down time. Cruise ships tend to abuse their employees. The labor laws are way different at sea.

One of the people I went on a cruise with was offered a job on the spot as a pastry chef. If you take a cruise ask at the purser’s desk.
