I really want to get a longboard, but since I am just starting I do not want to spend a lot of money (I don’t have a lot of money). What do you guys suggest?

If you’re just starting then look at how often you go and what it costs to rent while learning versus buying one right now. Try renting the foamboard and as you improve your skill, rent the fiberglass ones so you know what you want to buy, how long and how heavy.
See I don’t know enough about it to really know much about what you just said. But I figured I would buy a cheap one to try it out kind of like a new guitar player might just get any old cheap guitar.
@mineown: Finding a cheap longboard isn’t cheap and that’s why I suggested looking around at rental prices. I did that when I was first learning longboard and glad I did because one afternoon the board split in half and if it had been mine and not a rental, that would’ve been a minimum of $600. gone in a flash.
But I’m thinking along the lines of getting any old fifty dollar one from ebay. Cheap as hell but makes things a lot less complicated. I appreciate the effort, don’t get me wrong. But I just want to know some common brands or something like that.
Sorry, I’m no help in that, it’s been a decade since I’ve been out on the water and am clueless about current brands. If you can find a board for that money though? Go for it! Buy several. Where are you surfing, btw?
