Other than eating right, what are some ways to stay in shape/be healthy while wearing a cast?
I broke my left arm (I’m right-handed, thankfully here), and it stinks in one sense because I was starting to get involved with yoga and maintaining a good weight. Now I’m mired in grad school papers and other life happenings without a surefire way to burn off the extra energy. I’ll have the cast on for another month. Woe is me, woe woe is me.

Well…you have plenty of limbs left to exercise while your left arm withers away. lol
teasing you
Just move the rest of your body more.
Kick around a soccer ball, walk some hills, exercise the broken arm as much as you can with mobility and motion activities, stretching that shoulder, hand and finger grip routine with a tension ball.
Sorry ‘bout the arm, it’ll go by quickly. :-)
Can you jump rope with one arm? haha
If you have access to a treadmill or even just a set of stairs, you could do stair climbing. You could also get some of those ankle weights and do leg lifts while sitting down on a chair, and you could get a small dumbell to exercise your non-broken arm. You could probably also do some sort of modified yoga moves (mostly upright ones, where you move your good arm and your legs into lifted positions). You could also do somthing akin to stomach crunches, where you lie on the floor and bring your knees up to your chest, or do leg lifts, also from a laying down position.
Well, one good thing is that you can walk. When I broke my (right) arm a few months ago, it was while wearing a cast on my foot for a foot injury. I was really stuck. As long as you don’t get too frisky and lose your balance, you ought to be able to do some decent walking while mentally planning your assault on your next paper topic.
If you need a sympathetic ear while you moan and wail, I’ll be here.
Sex. Lots and lots of sex.
It’s a great aerobic exercise and burns a LOT of calories.
you’re welcome
cardio. glass of wine. oatmeal.
Walk. Just keep your body moving. Won’t yoga modify the poses for you? I know my class would.
I was about to say that you can do yoga when I read that you were doing yoga. Go to class. The teacher can show you ways to accommodate.
I’d go to yoga and yes they would adjust but my arm is in pain and I prefer to rest it…
You can do exercise that don’t need your arms just move you body. You can do dancing.
Also lots of floorwork exercises (e.g., modified pilates).
Personally, I’d take up the slow walking exercises in tai chi, those can make you work up a sweat and improve your balance while keeping you in tune with your body.
