A question about Microsoft Office PowerPoint Veiwer 2007- please help!

Asked by atarah09 (254points) September 20th, 2011

I am working on my slideshow presentation; I saved my progress so that I could step away for a few moments. I am not trying to edit what’s already been saved, but I don’t think it will allow me to do so. I worked really hard on this, please tell me there is a way for me to edit what’s already been saved! If so, please give step by step instructions so that I can continue working on it.

I am unsure of what the issue is you are having. Can you open the file? Does it show the last saved data?

This should be possible. If you are in slide show mode, press the Esc key to get back to edit mode. I am assuming you have the full version of the software not just the viewer since you were editing before. If you could describe a bit more that might help diagnose the problem.

The “Viewer” doesn’t allow you to edit. That’s why it’s just a “viewer”.

In earlier versions of PowerPoint (and I presume this is still the case in newer versions) if you Save As a “Presentation”, then it has a .PPS extension on the file and it opens in “Show” mode. If you save it as a .PPT (which is still the default, I believe), then it’s an editable file.
