What would happen if the American media all agreed to not identify politicians as Democrats or Republicans?

Not just the politicians, but also any experts or commentators who are brought onto news shows to give their opinions on issues.
If the audience doesn’t know who is on their “side” while they watch a show, would the person watching be likely to evaluate the issue more objectively? Let’s assume the we are watching shows that at least have some balance on them, some attempt to hear both sides.

Quite an interesting scenario. But it will only work if the politicians themselves do not identify their political leanings. I’m guessing people will be forced to use more of their common sense than their seemingly custom built prejudices if this ever happens?
It would be obvious as soon as they began speaking!
I think it’s a good idea because I definitely know some people who will begin to criticize anything a person says if it is first revealed that s/he is a Democrat/Republican. It would probably become obvious where they stand after they began to speak, but it would at least force people to listen to what the person was saying for at least a little while, instead of immediately discounting their point of view.
Not much, they would all still be liars.
People would find out anyway.
Americans tend to not pay much attention to things that are not already strictly defined for them.
If the nationwide game of Red Rover were to suddenly end and people had to listen to the debates and think for themselves, the vast majority would either not bother, or end up voting for the person whose name sounds the “best”.
I know this because I don’t give a flying frack about the local Mosquito Control Commissioner, and always vote for the guy named “Skeeter”.
People would set up alternative media that would tell the truth.
The thing with the media is, journalist are taught to state a persons title within the story, affiliation in regards to politics, and so forth. I like your idea and personally I think it would be more effective for people to choose between politicians this way, but money talks baby, this is the way it has always been.
