What's the cause of this potty problem? (NSFW?)
I’m having trouble peeing! It takes a while for it to start. A couple weeks ago I suspected a UTI because of some slight burning, and I pounded cranberry juice and it seemed to be okay. Could this be another symptom? I’m also having digestive problems, could they be related? If it is a UTI, I know I’ll need an antibiotic. I don’t suppose Flagyl will work? I’ll be taking it anyway for said digestive issues and it’d be nice if it could wipe out both at once.

Have you been given any meds with opiates? I know when I was prescribed percoset, they messed with my bathroom schedule horribly. I knew I wanted to go but felt my neither regions were numb and then just trickles at a time.
Could be kidney stones (women get them too, though rarely).
Sounds like it’s time for a visit to the doctor.
Kidney stones hurt like hell when they’re being passed. A bladder stone could block the urethra, but those are rare for either gender.
Flagyl isn’t an antibiotic that is typically used for UTI so doubtful if it will work. If that’s what you have going on, that is.
I’m wondering if you might have some edema tissue swelling in that area for one reason or another. That can cause things to respond more slowly than usual.
I believe flagyl can work for UTI, but it’s not a typical choice. I think it’d be a good idea to talk to your doctor and see if there are any antibiotics that will cover both problems you’ve got going on.
I can’t imagine it could be a kidney stone if this is your only symptom. Do you have any pain in your back off to one side? It is a pain that comes and goes and it quite intense when it comes. Has your urine been an unusual color at all lately? (Sorry for the awkward questions, those are the first symptoms I get when I have a kidney stone).
I cannot believe you have spent your time here rather than going to a doctor like you should have when the symptoms started. you have narrowed it down to seven possibilities and no one, not even a doctor can say for sure what the problem is without seeing you in person.
Log off, go to the doctor, we will welcome you with open arms when you get back, and you will feel a lot better.
Just go to the doctor and see. I surely don’t see the need for a big discussion about it.
If you can’t pee then you are ticking time clock that needs medical attention.
As good as we Jellies are, a Urologist is really who needs to answer this question.
any urologist’s in the house?
@tranquilsea the OP is describing hesitancy as opposed to retention. He she? has a difficult time starting the stream of urine, but is able to urinate. I agree that complete retention would eventually become an emergency.
Why am I wasting my time on here? Because fellow jellies have comparable life experiences that can be very helpful. Obviously a doctor knows more than us. The question isn’t “Should I go to a doctor?” so those types of answers are irrelevant. If you want to front me my expensive co-pay and cover for me at work, I will go to the doctor before going on Fluther next time.
Anyway, thank you @MagsRags ! The tissue swelling is exactly what I was thinking due to my digestive problems. I think everything might be so f***ed up that it’s all swollen. Will look more into that.
And just curious, @MagsRags, why did you think I’m a he?
@sliceswiththings because I’m afraid I was being a little lazy that day and didn’t click into your profile. Sorry ‘bout that. At least I considered both possibilities in my answer! ;-)
