What if the world changed depending on the temperature outside?

Asked by digitalimpression (9923points) September 25th, 2011

E.G. If it’s 40 degrees outside, the world instantly shifts to a 1940’s world. As soon as it turns 50 degrees the world shifts again to the 1950’s.

What sort of problems would occur? What ramifications? How would we adapt to this new world in which you could be driving a model T ford down the road that instantly turns into a horse drawn carriage?

The biggest problem would be countless people dying of heat stroke.

It’s about 65ยบ F outside, so I’m going to demonstrate against the Vietnam War instead of working on my engineering project. ;-D

@ragingloli Why would they die of heat stroke?

It would be a mess. I’m giving my temps in F not C but… on any given day you would have billions of people living in different decades. Would someone living in a place where it was 98 degrees be able to call or email someone living in a place where it was 10 degrees? And I’ve seen changes in temperature, in one day, vary by 30 degrees where I live. If I had modern surgery or modern anything scheduled for a day where the temperature dropped me back 30 years what would happen then? And what happens when the temperature is exactly 100 degrees? What century would that be? Are you only talking about the 20th century? If it’s 50 degrees out there that means it’s 1950 not 1850 or 1550 or 1050?

I hope it doesn’t get to this decade…

Most people would hate winter even more than they already do.
