Is there any way to search Fluther or any other site/domain to find the number of times a particular word has been used?

Asked by lillycoyote (24870points) September 27th, 2011

For example:

I do a google site search with the syntax:

site:fluther.com hippopotamus

and I get 36 hits but I believe that is just showing me the number questions where the word hippopotamus appears, not the total number of times the word hippopotamus has actually been used in either questions or responses. That is, I think I only get one hit even if the responses have the word hippopotamus mentioned more than once.

Typing “hippopotamus” into the search box on the site itself, I got this. That says it’s questions and answers, and it does come back with more hits than your google search. PS: I had to click on “see all” to get there.

@augustlan Thanks for reminding me of that! I have gotten out of the habit of using Fluther’s search because generally I am looking for something specific and I find the google site search gets me more to the specific. This time I am looking for something general and I completely forgot about the fluther search!
