If no degree was required, what would be your "dream career"?
And I don’t mean “sittin naked in a bean bag eatin’ cheetos”, haha.
I’m talking about an actual career like teacher, nurse, doctor. You could even get specific with it, like forensic pathologist, nuerosurgeon, and so on…
Personally, I think forensic pathology would be fascinating, but there’s that pesky degree and two active kiddos in my way.
If you could just snap your fingers and get into a career without a degree, what would you choose?

College professor. Or geologist.
I intend to become a Writer, and a Counselor.
If I told you this topic would be NSFW, and since I am at work I will tell you later.
Ooooh, juicy! You wanna be a hooker? :D
Artist. It’s not the degree in my way, though. It’s just extremely difficult.
Surgeon or teacher for the Montessori school I went to as a kid.
I wish I got my MLS. I have an undergraduate degree in School Media services. I found out that I didn’t really like working in schools and preferred public libraries. Unfortunately having an undergraduate degree in library science is more than useless in the public library system. Even though I have years of experience cataloging and processing books, I can’t get a job in original cataloging (I could get processing, but that job sucks, IMO) Even though I’ve done reference and reader’s advisory for years, I can’t get jobs in those fields. Even though I have a degree in education and several years special experience and training in running a library exclusively designed for kids, I can’t be a children’s librarian. I have a few years of public library programming under my belt, but in this economy, nobody is hiring. They are also cutting back on the non MLS staff and shifting the MLS people around (in my town, MLS workers are protected by a union so they can’t cut them out.) It’s SO frustrating not to be able to work in my field. And I don’t have time to get my MLS.
Long story short, I’d love to be a librarian and not need the MLS. I would like children’s services, youth services, young adult services, programming (which means creating events—not computer programming) reference, readers advisory or cataloging..

Oddly, I am a few of those things y’all mentioned…and yet, I’d like to be a comic book creator.

A bunch of things, but if I had to just pick one, Stewardship focused Ranger for Polar Bear Provincial Park. Astronomer and Philosopher would be pretty high on the list too but I could still enjoy those in my spare time.
My dream job would be to travel the world and stay in awesome locations in 5 star hotels like people do for the travel channel. I don’t know if a degree is required but that has always been my dream job.
I would just want to do research of some kind, where I’m either alone or with a small team. It could be atmospheric research, sociological studies etc.
Probably be as great as Andy Warhol – The Drugs and force the colleges to give me a Doctorates so I can profess the arts in correlation to music. Heck, Ray Charles received his degrees from a record label pressure, but yes he deserved it because they now, study him.
