Did you know that it's the Jewish New Year?

Asked by zensky (13421points) September 27th, 2011

Shana Tova – which means “good year” is the traditional greeting.

Happy New Year y’all.

I was unaware. I don’t even have any jewish friends. Where can I find some lol?

^^ Raises hand.

It is a tradition that Jews make amends for any real or apparent affronts during the time between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur (the day of atonement).

So if I have offended anyone during the past year, I apologize.

@Gail

Smoochie says Shana Tov to Milo as well. Do you have a cute pic of him in his yarmulke?

gailcalled's avatar

Officially beginning at sundown tomorrow.

filmfann's avatar

Shana Tova to you all!

Buttonstc's avatar

I apologize for Smoochi’s poor spelling. Shana TovA to Milo and you and all the other Jewish Jellies.

(when in doubt, blame the cat.) I really have to stop trying to Fluther whilst watching NCIS :)

I always forget, thanks for reminding me so I can text my stepdad.

Shana Tova, Zen!

So the Chinese food places will be packed tomorrow. Noted.

Haha Ryan – indeed.

Here in sunny Israel we are a few hours away from sundown, Erev Rosh Hashana.

Thanks for the wishes guys – if I have offended or hurt anyone, it was unintentional and indeed the pain was more self-inflicted – but nevertheless, I beg forgiveness.

All the best – may your New Year be sweet, peaceful and bring you health and happiness.

@zensky Shana Tova! You’ve never offended me, even when we disagreed on an issue. I’ve always appreciated your views.

Happy new year! I’ll take ten matzo balls! Yum. Wait, does this mean I could file taxes much later?

gailcalled's avatar

@Buttonstc: Milo is sitting for his portrait w. yarmulke right now. The artist is our own forbearing @rooeytoo. So wait for it.

@Gail

Looking forward to it :)

Does anybody these days still make their own Gefilte fish or is that too much to expect in modern times?

….such fond memories…

ratboy's avatar

Jeez! Does that mean that Jews are older than the rest of us?

gailcalled's avatar

@Buttonstc: Here’s Milo on his way to Synagogue after having prepared a delicious meal of matzo ball soup, gefilte fish, brisket, noodle kugel, roast carrots, and macaroons for us.

L’shana tova

@zensky

What artwork, you ask?

I believe, in this day and age, that Photoshop skills qualify, no?

@Gail

I love it. Beautiful.

And how fortunate that you have such a talented cat preparing the meal :)
