Locked out of my Apple ID, can you help?
I’ve been without the interwebs for quite a bit
A while back, (when I had the internet) I somehow got locked out of my Yahoo! email and a few other things. One of which is my apple ID. This is kind of important since I’m using an iPhone and iTunes. Thing is I can’t remember my password & the security question was made up in about 2003, so it was quite a bit ago. There’s the option to reset the password, but that will send an email to the email account I’ve given up on getting access back to. Any suggestions?

I would go into an apple store and see if they can either reset you or in the very least set you up with a new one
I would just create a new Apple ID account with a different email address. Starting over seems a lot easier than going through the trouble of trying to track the information for the old one down.
@lillycoyote If they have purchased iTunes songs on their old id and don’t at least link it up in some way they risk loosing them especially if they aren’t downloaded anywhere. I know I wouldn’t want to pay for something and not be able to get it back. I would talk to apple either online or at the store and see what they can do for you, I am sure your not the first this has happened to. I suggested going in because I find the people so helpful in the stores and when I deal with anything online its completely the oposite.
@creative1 I didn’t think of that. I have all my applications and music, etc. on my computer, but you’re absolutely right, I didn’t even think about that. If something were to happen to my computer and that was all gone, I would guess I would have to pay for anything I bought under that Apple ID again. I certainly wouldn’t like that either.
Since you mention having an iPhone, you’re entitled to use the free Apple helpline. Just request to be transferred to a product specialist since they are more advenced than the frontline phone reps.
1–800— MY IPHONE
Sweet, thanks @Buttonstc. I’ll try that & report back.
I’ve never had a problem that they could not help me get resolved. It’s still one of the few companies that does not outsource their phone help. And they actually train their reps on all of the common issues and have the specialists as backups for the uncommon stuff. It’s nice to know that the person who’s supposed to be helping you isn’t reading the directions out of the manual for the first time :)
It was pointless. She said she sent me an email, but she sent it to my email I’m locked out of. It’s a good thing we finally got an Apple store in Anchorage, because that’s my next stop now.
@Axemusica If anyone can help its someone there, I always find everyone at the store understanding and very helpful. I would ask if you could show your id to them and see if there is a way that either they set you up with your new email address to reset you to the one you know the password to. That way you can get in. If not see if they can send all your info from your other account and set you up with a brand new account and have all your previously bought items to that new account.
So, I went to the apple store & in lamens terms they said I was screwed. Thanks yahoo, :/
And there is absolutely no way to get your Yahoo reset?
Ah, that clarifies things. The problem is on Yahoo’s end.
I didn’t think it could be on Apples side because the vagaries of iTunes is something they deal with 24/7.
I couldn’t imagine it possible that NO ONE at all there could have a solution. I figured it was just a matter of getting bumped up higher on the chain.
What a bummer.
But I have one suggestion for the future. Get a GMail account. I’ve had mine since they first started up and I’ve never had a problem with them.
@Axemusica I was able to find Yahoo Customer Service #:
Phone: 866–562-7219
How to reach a live person:
Press 2 when recording asks for your selection
Hours of Operation:
Mon-Fri: 6am – 6pm PT
Hopefully someone theere can reset your email password and security question so you can access your yahoo email account.

Nothing has helped. I’ve called Yahoo! & it’s basically no different than trying to reset your password over the internet. I have a hard time believing they can’t see the answers on their screen. I just got off the phone with Yahoo! & she kept telling me “it’s not accepting my answer”. First off I don’t think she was from America or knew anything about cars. So how am I supposed to trust she’s putting in the answers correctly. You get a total of 5 times through Yahoo! on the phone to answer it correctly, or have them type it in correctly or whatever. Gahh it’s just a shitty ass system IMHO.
Apple basically told me I’m screwed. So, yea…
