Can you name any 1950s American Pop groups or solo artists with beards?
I think beards got big with musicians in during the hippie/disco era but were there any bearded musicians in the 1950s?

The only person I can think of off the top of my head is Burl Ives but he wasn’t exactly pop, more of kind of a folk singer.
No, I can’t actually. Weird~
This is like the new question that you ask someone with the hiccups to make them stop and think so that they forget their hiccups.
*The old one was “How many bald people do you know.”
Chuck Berry had mustache and area below his lower lip.
Jazz groups included several beards.
It’s true. Even Willie Nelson was clean shaven.
Yes, beards are an interesting thing in the U.S. They were once extremely common and then completely fell out of favor and then sort of came back, but they are still not all that common. It’s a curious thing. How and what people think of them.
I asked this question a long time ago, about whether a man with a beard or facial hair could still get elected as President. I think, even though it really shouldn’t matter, that it would be difficult. I think people would be put off by it even though we’ve had more than a few presidents with beards and facial hair, but not for a long time.
@lillycoyote Yes that’s what I was getting at. It’s strange how society constantly changes with what is acceptable physically appearing wise. Musically, it’s hard to picture a 50’s pop group, such as lets say, the righteous brothers with beards for some reason. Probably because it was uncommon. But it’s acceptable with “folk” musicians, its all strange how appearance does correlate with art and over all feel of something. I’m sure there were opera singers in Italy still representing beards during the 50s.
