Yes, it’s file sharing. If the video hs copywrights then it will be illegal, no matter what. Torrenting, cloud, streaming, whatever the case is.

@XOIIO

is borrowing DVDs from a friend illegal? All a DVD is, is a FILE on a disc.
I hope now that the cloud is becoming mainstream, people will really start to see the ridiculousness of the file sharing laws. As long as the original copy is a legal one, why the he’ll can’t we share it with our friends as we would any other item? Most movies come with a digital copy now, so burning from the disc is unnecessary.

As of now, the cloud is mostly proprietary, but there are networked hard drives that can be accessed from other computers with your permission. It is you hard drive, with your contents, and should be able t be shared with everyone you want to share it with.
How could officials possibly police this without infringing on our privacy?

@SquirrelEStuff No, but someone purchased that firstly. Taking a random video is illegal. I agree that its pointless.

But the cloud is not random and is more personal than sharing copyrighted media in public forums. It is your media. Your DVDs are in a new format, although it is pretty much the same format, on a different kind of disc.

The OP asked if it was ok for him to put his movies in the cloud. Assuming his movies are legal to begin with, I don’t see how he would be breaking any laws.
Can you please provide a reference?
