We are now down to one main chat room and one help room. Does this make it simpler for everyone?

It was @augustlan who suggested the two room model. Now we can all hang out and chat!

Yes, I think two makes more sense than the many we had before. I was like playing hide and seek.

Like I’ve mentioned, I’m not really into chat but that might be better. I do just check them out sometimes and I don’t know what the glitch is, but I’ve sometimes seen the same person, all by themselves, in all five chatrooms, or how every many there were. If the complaint is that it is difficult to get people to use the chat rooms it doesn’t make sense to have a lot of them. If people used them a lot and were clamoring for more, maybe. At least if people want to chat there are only one of two places they can be. Simpler is sometimes better.

Still isn’t gonna make me type fast enough to keep up ;]

@woodcutter I have exactly the same problem. I am just not fast enough or succinct enough to keep up with chat.

To give credit where credit is due, it was actually @johnpowell’s idea, and @Dog who made it happen. Bravo!

This is a horrible idea. Now people won’t have to join a bunch of empty rooms to find nobody to chat with.

I am quite pleased about this development. Thanks @johnpowell and @Dog. For now, I don’t have much time for Fluther, much less chat, but I hope it is still going strong when I have a bit more time at my disposal. I am excited to check it out. In the meantime, perhaps I’ll just have to pop in for a couple minutes to get a feel for the new place.

@lillycoyote It’s not really a glitch. I’ve noticed that any time you enter a room, you don’t automatically leave the room by leaving the page. It will eventually time out, but in the mean time, it will say you are there unless you actually click the button to leave the room.

Oh, and if anyone wants to dish about the Apple event that starts in 28 minutes I will be in chat.

I don’t think complexity was what was keeping people away.

What is the purpose of the chat rooms? The few times I tried, there were a lot of “Gail has entered the chat room,” “Hi, Gail,” “johnpowell has left the chat room,” Bye, Ryan.”

There seemed to be little or no substance in the interstices.

I must have bad timing because every time I hit the chat room there’s no one there or no one answering.

Seems like a good move to me. A social and a help room. I don’t think we ever needed more than that. :)

@Symbeline :: We added more for things like the Olympics and the 08’ debates. This was when it was busy so it made sense to make topic focused rooms.

If you don’t like the chat rooms that is fine. But if you feel the need to slag them off in here you should probably just leave it to the people like them.

Gail. It is ok that you don’t get it. Not everyone does. And actually most of the shit in the chat is better than the shit in Social.
