Most Master’s degrees require 1 /2 to 2 years of schooling. With that proviso, I would consider Library Science (duh) or an MSW. Neither will make you a fortune but both are very rewarding.

Go as far as your brain cells and your want to succeed can carry you. The mental health field is so severly lacking… We need more truth, we need more good people and we need more help!

I wish you well and I hope you succeed and become a part of the much needed solution as opposed to yet another portion of a very obvious problem in this country especially.

I would say, Marketing. (Go where the money is.)

@Judi No offence but… Boooo hisss…. LOL

@GabrielsLamb , Hey! I love marketing, and it works well with Psych! I did write it before I read your answer though.

I would follow through with the schooling.

Culinary school. If you’re a good chef, you can make a lot of money. Besides, it’s fun and you get to eat good food.

janbb's avatar

@wundayatta Lots of hours and hard to work your way up though.

asmonet's avatar

@wundayatta: Culinary school is expensive and most chefs will NEVER make a lot of money.

@janbb She didn’t say she wasn’t into hard work.

@asmonet No one is ever guaranteed high pay anywhere. You still have to work hard. If you’re willing to work hard, you can make money.

The key, my friends, is that you enjoy what you do and if you enjoy what you do, the money will come. We were given no guidance on preference, so I don’t know why my idea is getting all this shit. Did I pick on your idea @janbb? I know all the dirt on librarians, as I am one, too.

janbb's avatar

Not trying to pick on you @wundy – just a reaction. I kind of do know @Jude‘s proclivities a bit. Plenty to criticize in my suggestions too; both professions are seriously underpaid.

A one year career counseling certificate. Or a one year labor studies (human resources) certificate. Both can be taken online.

GabrielsLamb's avatar

@Judi You’re very right, it is a good thing, but it can be a bad thing too less the perspective that i do believe you have… therefore I was just messin with you. You’re a good egg!

GabrielsLamb's avatar

@asmonet I agree with you from EXPERIENCE! It is like everything else, those who actually make “Alot of money” are just the minority.

Workplace health and safety is HUGE here now. I was told the same is true in the UK too. I would look into that field.

I was a psych major and am now going for mba in marketing. I find there is more money to be made in the business world if you are not going for your PhD in psych (to become a clinician or research/teach).
