how much did you get?

gailcalled's avatar

No one knows; certainly not George Bush and Co.

At least you got a check. My mailbox has been empty, except for my increased assessment on house, larger heating bills, and 17 catalogs/day from Land’s End. (And gas prices this week-end….$3.81 for low octane.

Don’t spend it all in one place. The bureaucracy needed to mail this out cost much more per person than that, not to mention trees, paper, stamps, gas for mailmen. I am really disgusted.

NeroCorvo's avatar

@gailcalled I paid $4.00 a gallon yesterday for low grade.

My mailbox is empty too.

I GUESS THEY MADE OUT BIG TIME BECAUSE THEY SENT IT VIA DIRECT DEPOSIT NO STIMULUS FOR MY LOCAL UNION MAIL CARRIER EITHER

HOW MUCH STIMULATION CAN I BUY FOR $ 5815

@olddog; where do you live? And I like your username. I, personally, AM an old dog who is being forced to learn new tricks. I think it is good for me.

@Ninetails; plz don’t use all caps. Use the “textile” tricks for emphasis or enthusiasm.

How, BTW, did you get the rebate via direct deposit? No one from the government asked me to set that up.

Shhh… or else I will need earplugs.

NeroCorvo's avatar

@gailcalled I am north of Los Angeles in California.

When you have set up electronic deposit for income tax refund perhaps the “stimulus” comes via the same route.

ninetails's avatar

sorry, i didn’t mean to yell….......... since my income tax refund was direct deposit the ESR is automatically done the same way

I got mine via direct deposit also… but I got the full $600.00, plus $300.00 more because I have a dependent child.

I though it was all-or-nothing; I didn’t realize there was a scaled amount.

A lot of people have been wondering how the gov’t determined the order in which the rebates are being issued… does anyone know?

www.irs.gov has a calculator to help you figure out how much you should get depending on your income. The order it is being sent out is determined by the last two digits of your social security number. I copied this from the site:

How much will you get? The actual amount depends on the information contained on your tax return. Eligible individuals will receive between $300 and $600. Those who are eligible and file a joint return will receive a total of between $600 and $1,200. Those with children will get an additional $300 for each qualifying child. To qualify, a child must be eligible under the Child Tax Credit and have a valid Social Security number. We have various examples for you check out.

Also here is the schedule listed on the site:

Stimulus Payment Schedule for Tax Returns Processed by April 15

Economic Stimulus Payment Information Center

Frequently Asked Questions: Received the Stimulus Payment?

Economic stimulus payments will be issued according to the last two-digits of the main filer’s Social Security number. For joint filers, the payments will go out based on the person listed first on the return. Payments will be made by either direct deposit or paper check, consistent with how people filed their 2007 tax return.

If you have questions after reading the below schedule of payments, please contact
1–800-829–1040.

People who use direct deposit also will be among the first to receive the payments starting April 28. Direct deposits will be made daily and completed by the date listed below:

DIRECT DEPOSIT

Last two SSN digits: Payments will be transmitted no later than:
00 through 20 May 2
21 through 75 May 9
76 through 99 May 16

Paper checks will also go out based on Social Security number. For Social Security numbers ending in 00 through 09, the paper checks will be mailed starting May 9 and will continue through May 16. A similar process will be repeated in the following weeks.
PAPER CHECK

Last two SSN digits: Payments will be mailed no later than:
00 through 09 May 16

thanks Scamp, that link did the trick, although i’m still a little confused about my refund. i guess i’ll just have to wait until my letter of explanation on how they came up with my refund gets here. i know i would get less then the maxium for having a higher then 75,000 AGI, but i don’t owe back taxes, and i know my child support is current because it’s withdrawn from my weekly paycheck. so i’ll have to see what Uncle George…. i mean Sam’s explaination is. thanks again

You could also use their caculator to see what your amount should be. You will need to have your tax return information handy to use it because it will ask you questioins about what you filed when you use it. On the faq page, they answer questions about why you may not have gotten what you expected .

El_Cadejo's avatar

Yea according to IRS i should have gotten 600 back but they only sent me 300 :(

ah welll its 300 more than i had. Mine was also direct deposit, most people i know who got theirs by check haven’t received it yet so i wouldn’t be to worried yet gail.(it also depends on how soon you did your taxes like first come first serve)

hearkat's avatar

My last 2 digits are 68… I got my direct deposit last week—one week sooner than the chart says.

Bsilver's avatar

The last 2 digits of mine are in the 90’s, and mine posted today.

@ninetails, the amount you stated you got doesn’t sound like a stimulus payment, perhaps you’re mistaking that for your tax refund…

Although it’s quite possible that the IRS changed the program…

scamp's avatar

The dates on the chart are the latest mailing date, so it is possible to get it earlier. After hearing from some of you, I wonder if I will get the 300 I am expecting. but like uber says, it’s more than I have now, so anything will be good.

gailcalled's avatar

@Uber; If I have any tax rebates, I apply it to next yr’s estimated taxes. It is usually a pathetic amount since my CPA is good and I keep decent records. My SSS ends in -no bad or predictable jokes, please – ....69.

And I have already spent whatever I might get.
