What do you think about Ken Robinson's idea of changing the education paradigms?

Asked by dreamwolf (3163points) October 7th, 2011

I thought it to be genius! Upon watching this video http://www.ted.com/talks/ken_robinson_changing_education_paradigms.html

I knew I saw a change in the way my best friend was thinking after he started taking add/adhd pills. I swear he was content with just becoming a working force type of person when he used to be a creative mind type of guy.

That’s Sir Ken Robinson. He has been knighted for his work. :D

Well my kudos for this are perhaps unfair, because I can’t recall ever meeting a TED lecture that I didn’t love. But this one was terrific. I would have dearly loved to go through a school where collaboration and problem solving wee the order of the day. I wish Sir Ken Robinson godspeed in convincing the powers that be in education that a change would be worth considering.

What an awesome lecture. I didn’t even realize it was a TED talks. I heard/saw the lecture on youtube. It was an RSA animated lecture, where a sketch artists draws what the lecturerer is talking about. I highly recommend checking them out. Go to youtube and search RSA and there are several. Like TED talks, I have never seen one that isn’t miind blowingly interesting.

I love his ideas. I think he is bang-on on several points.

But I think the system is too entrenched to be changed easily.
