What plot in an action movie would you be excited about seeing?

Asked by mazingerz88 (29203points) October 12th, 2011

There seems to be a lack of innovative plotting in action movies these days. I remember Die Hard, Predator and Lethal Weapon—movies that had somewhat original plots which ended up being copied many times. And is it really the lack of exciting plots that is the problem or the lack of star material out there? I just saw Killer Elite and did not enjoy it much.

@Scarikah Would you be interested in a plot where a small town cop falls in love with a beautiful secret service agent and in pursuing her ends up fighting terrorist assassins and saving the US president’s life? Either he’s a small town police officer or a now homeless guy who used to be in special forces but had brain injury and was left by his wife.

This American Life vs. Radiolab” – needs to be a completely violent non-stop action movie with explosions (starring Ira Glass and Jad Abumrad).

As much as I enjoy the ass-kicking, somewhat profane, cowboyish hero who is good heart archetype that has been a staple of action movies I would like to see more action movies involving the more cold, clinical, borderline sociopathic anti-hero who crosses the line between good and evil without thought or regret, but put him into situations that he is totally the wrong fit to handle them. I’m thinking taking out Schwarzenegger’s character from Kindergarten Cop and inserting Vincent from Collateral. I’d like to see how that would turn out.

I think movies these days are all overrated. In the past, I remember there were killer flicks. Now, when I turn on the TV and see a trailer, I think to myself “they’re not serious, right?” I’m seeing the worst movie trailers advertising the crappiest concepts that one can even call a movie these days. Maybe it’s just me getting older and learning more about the world, but honestly, no movie looks “fun” to me anymore as it may have in the past. I see media companies trying to clone other movies or try some new crazy concept that’s just stupid, and I can’t help but facepalm myself. Some even try to advertise without even telling what the hell the movie is about (check out the Bucky Larson trailers)...

No wonder why movies just don’t do it for me anymore…I prefer TV and watching older movies for free so I can change the channel and not feel like I just wasted two hours of my life on that crap.

I love movies that involve the immediate and unexpected death or disability of 95% of the population.

The Stand, Day Of The Triffids, Testament.

Oh, how I love civilization suddenly upside down!

@Scarikah the vampires have machine guns! There is a love story with a werewolf and one of the lone young women survivors, played respectively by Hugh Jackman and Taylor Swift! Johnny Depp leads the werewolves, Ewan McGreggor the Vampires, Bruce Willis the humans!!!
