How long does it take to port a Virgin Mobile number over to a Sprint cell phone?

I just recently started service with Sprint wireless. I was a Virgin Mobile customer for 8 months, but the sprint packages are like virgin mobiles with extra. I know virgin is part of sprint, but the customer reps at the store were confusing as all out doors and provided NO help whatsoever. I was wondering if anybody in the fluther had any experience with this and/or knew the time range for the number port. I wanted to call the lady again, but now my virgin mobile phone is off (as in the system doesn’t even have my information anymore.). That number is my everything, it would be a shame if I had to call EVERYBODY and give them my new number. (By everybody, I mean my college, the VA, my landlord, my car finance company, insurance, etc.)

It usually doesn’t take very long at all like within a day or two, but you must have your original phone number active when you activate your new service with Sprint, and they’re supposed to take care of all the porting for you. If it’s already shut off you may have lost your old number to the ether.

From what you’re saying, your VM account is no longer active. that means that you don’t have possession of your VM number anymore. If you don’t have possession, then technically you have no number to port over to Sprint. That number will be held by VM for about 3–6 months before it gets released into the available number pool.
Just to clarify, was your VM phone still working when you signed-up with Sprint? and they understand that you want to keep your VM number? If so, the hopefully Sprint initiated the number porting process that caused your VM account to be terminated. If that is the case, it could take anywhere from usually 2 days up to 7 days, if there are prpblems with validating the accounts.
Never mind, it ported over just fine.
