Is there a way to get a prescription for Doxycycline without going to the doctor?

Asked by filmfann (52487points) October 15th, 2011

I really, really don’t want to go to the doctor about an issue I am having. How can I get a prescription for this without a doctor visit?

You will have to see either a doctor or an advanced practice register nurse who can prescribe this medication. That’s the only way to get prescriptions.

I have gotten prescriptions after doing an over-the-phone interview. They were able to tell I had sinitus, and I just went to the pharmacy and picked it up, so it can be done.

You could go to Mexico. Not legal in the U.S.

Aren’t mexican prescription drugs a crapshoot on whether they are the real deal?

No, they should be fine in Mexico. You need to check if it is called by a different name down there and it might be in different doses. Don’t cross the border with a ton of it. Did you want to take it for a long time, more than a month?

I know you probably have thought of this, but if you have been treated before with doxi, maybe your doctor will just call it in?

You can’t.
