Have you ever known a sane, sober person who seriously told you they have personally seen a UFO up close?

Long story short, a girl I know, in her late 30’s, not a drinker or drug user, told me when she was younger she saw something with lights hovering over a road. Everyone on the road (local road) pulled over and was staring at this object, and then it flew up quickly and disappeared. She thinks it was a UFO.
I am not one to say anything is impossible, but her story makes me doubtful. Have you ever known anybody who is sane and said they personally witnessed a UFO?

No. Sane, sober or otherwise.
Up close? No. But I have an 80 year old friend who swears she saw a flying saucer when she was a kid and interesting enough, I did too.
I’ve never known someone sane to be insane , if that’s what you’re asking.
No, nor even anyone who said they knew someone who did or knew a friend of a friend who did.
In the 1950s, when UFOs were the hot new thing, my father swore he’d seen one at a distance. He was a totally sober, sane, teetotaling ordained minister and college professor. Nobody took him seriously, though.
Sane is relative, I could answer both yes and no to that. Sober, well some.
Never saw a UFO but I do have a Sasquatch story that holds up in conjunction with 4 other stories from the same area and time frame.
I believe in them and I am mostly sane and mostly sober.
Nope. I have a close friend who claims to have been able to achieve automatic writing but even he isn’t exactly sure what happened (and as I wasn’t there to witness it myself, I can’t say anything on it). That’s the closest I’ve come to the UFO/paranormal world…
I think people forget that UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object; Not ‘spacecraft’. People see UFOs all the time, but it does not mean that they are space crafts or flying saucers. It just means that the object has not been identified.
Yes. I know a few people in fact who have claimed to see a UFO.

UFO? No, though it would definitely be interesting to meet someone who has.
Not UFOs, but I have met sane and sober people who have described first-hand experiences of other supernatural phenomena.
This is why I never believe in ghosts, UFOs, yeti, unicorns, etc because it’s never something I’ve experienced or that my immediate friend has experiences, that is to say I have never had a first hand or even second hand encounter. It’s always a friend of a friend or a relative of a friend. Where are these friends of friends and why are they never my friends?
I think it’s probable that there is other life out there, but I don’t think we would be able to see them observing us with the naked eye. Not unless they wanted us to see them, and I can’t think of a reason they’d want us to, other than viewing our reactions to pretty lights in the sky.
It would be hilarious if it actually was aliens, but just their equivalent of dumb frat boys goofing off, instead of scientific study of our planet.
Yeah, but it was the same uncle who told me he saw mummy kissing santa claus, so I question his claims of sanity right from the get go.
I saw a UFO once. I believe it was simply a new stealth plane though, not aliens.
Experienced airport personnel working at Chicago O’Hare International Airport’ reported seeing a spinning, metallic object hover over gate C-17 for several moments during an overcast afternoon on November 7, 2006. Pilots, ramp personnel, and supervisors all witnessed the UFO and were concerned about the safety of ongoing flight operations.
These a sane, sober people working at the busiest airport in the world who are extremely familiar with aircraft and weather phenomenon. And can you imagine the potential risk to their careers to describe a UFO to their employers and the press?
Definitely some credence there.
@Afos22: Yes, definitely I understand that it was an unidentified flying object and not necssarily aliens from outer space! That’s my point: It sounds very odd, but it could be something not odd. However, it seems like it’s not something anybody could identify.
