Music software gurus would you recommend the Apogee Jam guitar interface?

Asked by whitetigress (3129points) October 22nd, 2011

So I have a Yeti Pro which can record and a super high quality (above cd quality). And that will be stellar for my acoustics/vocals. Would you recommend the Apogee Jam for a jack in for my electric guitar? Or would recording through any other audio interface prove worthy of my time?

Gadzooks, I would say what your end goal is. If it is just to practice and such, an Apogee Jam guitar interface. If you were going to create or do something more serious, I would say use Pro Logic, or Ableton Live with your Mac, you would have way more tools as far as effects like compression, reverb, decay, etc. Plus you can tighten up your set with Ableton by removing bad notes, or moving them to where they should have been. You can also layer so you can do the rhythm section and play along with yourself on lead. If you install it on a Macbook, etc, then you can be fairly portable but still have all the creative tools.
