I wonder how people feel about the future and what would be the greatest thing about it?Scientific, medical or technological discoveries , an end to world conflicts, the proven existance or non-existance of God, a peacefulpill so you could enjoy life knowing you could end it whenever you wanted?

We have no way of knowing.
Either decaying away into dust or finding out that there is life after death will be my greatest thing.
I think it will b very interesting when technology improves, but I wonder if it will be like the scene from wall-e . (what I’m talking about starts at about the 1 minute mark)
Practical immorality, nanotechnology providing most of what we need, individual and family energy independence, etc.
Eventually they will figure out how to contain and control the Fusion reaction. With unlimited, clean energy, the world will be a different place. Water shortages, food shortages will be a thing of the past. The project is being developed at many locations. One lab is working on containment, one lab working on ignition, one lab….
Right now they are igniting the fuse 8 times per day at a certain lab. One shot instantaneously draws more power than the entire US energy grid. Very exciting!
Of course this must be coupled with responsible reproductive rights. We can’t keep reproducing like feral pigs. There has to be a limit some time.

People are attacking fusion at both ends.
Big labs are working to create hot fusion.
University students and home inventors are working on cold fusion.
The thing that strikes me, if you notice, the hot fusion video strikes me as a corporate infomercial without much real content (it was the only one I could find that talked about actual hot fusion; all the top Google hits were on rock bands and other nonsense that had nothing to do with fusion research), while the cold fusion video (there are tons and tons of them) are of the experimenters demonstrating working home-built prototypes in great detail explaining how they work and some using measuring devices to prove that fusion is occurring.
If you ask me, my money’s on cold fusion…
Rubber compound vehicles. It won’t reduce accidents, but they’ll be a lot more fun….wheeeeee!!
The inevitable scientific discoveries excite me the most.
It would be so way cool to have a low cost electric car that can run 300 miles on a charge. Also it should only take a couple minutes to recharge the batteries that have a live expectancy of over 300K miles and are inexpensive to replace. I’m such a dreamer. HA!
I hope to live long enough to see many more medical break-throughs as well.
@gondwanalon – That will happen, but not any time soon. Look at computers: it took 30 years between the IMSAI 8080 with a whopping 4K of ram running CP/M, and an Intel QuadCore with 8 gig of ram running Windows 7…
What remains to be learned. I am fascinated by what we may discover in the years to come about our universe and the quantum world. It’s just a pity we never get any closer to understanding ourselves.
“the greatest thing about the future?” No one knows what the future will bring to each person but people can actually plan for some aspects of it. People can shape or develop themselves in order to achieve their desires that can only be had in the future. . . take the case of kids who want to be doctors, lawyers, engineers . . . they and/or their parents can take action now and along the way in order for the kids get to that point.. . . you probably heard of the phrase – “planning for the future”. Of course, there’s no guarantee to that.
Possibilities are the greatest thing about the future.
We haven’t been there yet.
The greatest thing will be that the past will be behind us.
The greateast thing about the future is that it will never change but go right back to where it originated.
Since it hasn’t happened yet we have total control over the way it manifests.
Because it can bring anything. Most of the times we repeat the mistakes of the past so we are bound to re-live them. But the future can bring anything.
The greatest thing about the future is its arrival. Let’s hope it goes on and on and on. : )
All of the books people write about it!
