The Z being the last letter from the Roman/Latin alphabet, we seem to have a problem….
How will we call the next Generation?
Generation 2.0 ?
Generation 2.1 ?
Generation Zzzz?
What say you?
”Generation X, commonly abbreviated to Gen X, is the generation born after the Western post–World War II baby boom ended.” Wiki
”Generation Y, also known as the Millennial Generation (or Millennials),[1][2] Generation Next,[3] Net Generation,[4] Echo Boomers,[5], describes the demographic cohort following Generation X. ” Wiki
”Generation Z (also known as Generation M, the Net Generation, or the Internet Generation) is a common name in the US and other Western nations for the group of people born in either the mid 1990s or early 2000s through to the present.[1][2][3][4]” Wiki

If Generation Z and Y both had other aliases, I’m sure the next generation doesn’t have to be denoted with a letter. It could be a word, a number, a numeral, a phrase, or anything else…it could even be in damn binary code for all I care.
Generation Omega
After that, it starts all over again at Alpha.
Generation A.
Everything old is new again.
ざ (za), A, X^2, although your mention of Zzzz has a certain appeal.
Next generation?
Ha ha! Great joke.
I would use a naming process that’s analogous to mathematical progression and call them generation AA*. After that there would be AB, AC…AZ, etc.
This is based on A representing 1 and no letter representing 0.
*InB4 AA=Alcoholics Anonymous.
Whose bright idea was it to start at X anyway? That was stupid.
:-)
I say we just keep adding Z’s. Generation ZZ, ZZZ, ZZZZ, ZZZZZ, indefinitely. That’s what we seem to doing with modern, postmodern, post-postmodern, and so on and so forth. It’s the lazy way out, but it’s what people seem to like best. :P
It doesn’t need to be a Generation Anything. I am a Baby Boomer. It may be the next generation could be anything from Wiki-Freaks to Team Zombie.
