What are the eligibility requirements of TV game show winners?

Asked by Roby (2939points) October 29th, 2011

Watching ‘The Price is Right’ as the credits roll it states that Contestants must meet eligibility requirements. What are the requirements? I even read once where a contestant did not meet the requirements and thus did not receive their prizes.

I think this generally means things like: Not related to anyone working for the show/network/sponsors, being of legal age, and being a legal resident.

I was thinking maybe it also included being able to meet the taxes on the prizes won..Could that also be one?

Hmm, I wouldn’t think so. That seems like an issue between the government and the contestant, not the game show and the contestant.

The Price is Right

Eligibility Information: Due to eligibility requirements, no one under the age of 18 will be admitted to the studio. If you want to be considered as a contestant you MUST:

If you don’t have proof of your SS number with you it must be supplied within 30 days in order claim any prizes. If you are from outside of the USA and do not have a SS card, this will not be required as part of your I.D. A passport can be a substitute for the driver’s license.

*As of Nov. 12, 2007, anyone who has not been a contestant on the show in the last 10 years is eligible to be chosen. Also, you must:
