OK, I asked a question, it was deemed obscene. I made the changes requested but it is still not posted. Why?

Maybe a mod just hasn’t gotten around to reposting it for you. All of them are volunteers save for Auggie, so that does happen a lot. When did you send it back?

If it was the pubic hair loss one it may have to be tagged as [NSFW] not suitable for work or it may be in the wrong section?

rojo's avatar

That was the one, I tagged it as suggested. It was in the General section and I wanted serious input.

rojo's avatar

If the social section is more appropriate, I would put it there, but I was looking for more serious input.

Ela's avatar

Dunno, only the mod-gods can tell why. I do know that they don’t pull questions for no reason. Check your “Questions that need editing” maybe it’s in there.

rojo's avatar

Mod-gods how ‘bout some imput on this?

rojo's avatar

@EnchantingEla I assumed that since you knew the subject matter you were one of them. Is this not correct?

Ela's avatar

One of what? If I was a mod, I’d have the “Moderator” banner on my profile page. I’m just a peanut and since they don’t pass out “Peanut” banners I got notta.

Input such as? I read the question and have no idea why it was pulled. I personally found the question tacky but rather then comment, I moved along… kinda like now : ) To each his own.

rojo's avatar

@Enchantingela Sorry, I do not mean anything negative. I just assumed that since you had actually seen the question you had access that I did not.
Tacky? maybe, but still, a question that I was interested in getting some independent input in. Seriously, this is not something you can just blurt out at work and get real data on. I meant nothing mean or malicious by it. It was just something we both wondered about..

I am sure it is a timing issue rather than a ‘this is just not suitable for fluther’. A question about pubic hair, as long as it is carefully tagged to identify it may not be suitable for reading anywhere or for all users, is highly unlikely to be disallowed. Leave it a while and then if it still hasn’t arrived back, speak to Auggie.

Welcome to fluther (belatedly) by the way.

rojo's avatar

@Bellatrix thanks for the message. I do not mean to be an a@@hole, I am just confused. I will let it alone for now. Can you contact someone (Auggie) directly without involving everyone?

Bellatrix's avatar

I didn’t take it you were being an asshole. It’s okay to ask questions if you are unsure. If you put @Augustlan in the search page, her name will come up. You can then message her directly. Alternatively, you can click the HELP tab at the top of the page and then MODERATORS. There is a list of all the mods and of course, to Auggie.

Hope your post is with us soon and really, nobody would think you are being obnoxious for asking this question. :-)

Personally, I don’t think you’re being an ass at all. I probably stumbled across your question right after you posted it. You can also check your PMs someone may have msgd you there. I know they did me on my first question.
Welcome to Fluther : )

I’m tired and hitting the sheets. : (

@EnchantingEla Goodnight and thanks.

Hi @rojo. Welcome to Fluther. I just stopped in and went through the pending questions. Yours is now approved and posted.

As mentioned, we mods don’t keep regular hours. We come and go as we are able and you just happened upon a spot of no coverage.

Happy Fluthering!

rojo's avatar

@Dog thanks, How does something get flagged if no-one is watching? Is there some kind of software that picks up on certain words and flags them? Just wondering.

Dog's avatar

One of the most awesome things about Fluther is that we strongly believe in an ALL HUMAN approach to modding.

Any user can flag a question. A flag does not have any power at all.

A flag merely is a note for a Mod to come look.

If the mod thinks an edit is in order they will send the question back to the user and ask them to edit it to meet guidelines.

Once it meets guidelines it is re-posted.

I’ve just seen that question a few minutes ago so it looks like it’s back up now.

@EnchantingEla

These are all the mods and if you check out their profile pages they all do have “Moderator” banners on their profile pages.

Turnaround time on Qs which have been reworded is never guaranteed to be instantaneous.

Particularly in the wee hours of the AM, there is less mod coverage. Your Q most likely fell into one of those black holes of no coverage.

Very occasionally, one gets overlooked entirely, so a polite PM to a mod or CM should set things straight.

@rojo I came back looking for that question because I took a shower and I was wrong! If it comes back, I’ll correct my answer. Otherwise, you’ll just have to find out when the time comes.

I JUST answered the question, not 2 minutes ago…sooo….?

Ela's avatar

My apologies @rojo, I didn’t mean to come across pissy, I was just tired. Still no excuse.
I’m glad to see you got your questions taken care of. @Dog‘s the bestest ;)

@lillycoyote I’m dibbin first in line for the “Peanuts” banner ; )
