When was the last time we had an election between two good choices?

It seems like every election is a “hold your nose and vote” choice between bad and worse. Sometimes, we get a candidate who is good, and it makes his competition look terrible.
Can you think of the last election between two people who were both able and deserving of the job?

Stevenson and Eisenhower?
It’s been a very long time since I have much confidence in any candidate.
It could be that most voters do fall within the moderate scale politically but lately all we seem to get to choose from are candidates from one extreme or the other. Truth be known, most of us ,whether we want to admit it in front of our friends, are independent, but feel the pressure to be one side or the other so that their vote actually goes somewhere. All it would take is for more of us to “have some” and change voter affiliation. It will get some attention believe you me.
@CaptainHarley Eisenhower/Stevenson was what I was thinking too.
That was just barely in my lifetime.
@filmfann
It was one of the first elections of which I was aware enough to realize that it was somehow important. My grandparents were old South Democrats and would roll over in their graves if they knew that the very first election in which I was eleligible to vote, I voted for a Republican.
I can’t honestly remember. Has there ever been an election without politicians? That one would get my vote.
@Russell_D_SpacePoet Ha! We either get politicians, lawyers or businessmen to choose from. Pick your poison :D
