[nsfw??] Is it normal to not be able to do anything else when you urinate?
Stop looking at me like that.
Why can’t I pee unless I’m focused on peeing? For example, earlier I was trying to pull a shirt on over my head, and I automatically stopped urinating, until I was done putting my shirt on.
Is that normal? What causes that? Do you really have to focus to pee? Is it in my head?

Must be a woman thing. I can write my name in the snow while drinking a beer.
I can’t imagine this is that unusual. I find it difficult to urinate unless I am really concentrated on doing it – and even then it can be difficult when you have use one of these, elbow-to-elbow with dudes.
Maybe something going on with your muscles down there. I’ve had that problem, but only when on these pills to help treat a bladder issue. The pills made it so that my bladder was sorta a bit numbed up, but then that meant they also numbed up the muscles that you use to pee, so I’d have to concentrate really hard on making them do their thing (which is actually so reflexive, it’s really hard to be all “wait, do they contract, or expand, or go forward, or…???”). And then it would take me several minutes to pee. But now that I’m off the pills, I read and play Angry Birds while peeing, no problem. So, it might be something (but if you aren’t having any other issues, then even if it isn’t normal, meaning the statistical majority, it’s not necessarily bad).
@Aethelflaed hmm. Now that you mention it, sometimes I have to try really hard to pee, but nothing is new. As far as I can remember it has always been that way. It’s like it takes some effort for me to get those muscles to relax.
@Adirondackwannabe I don’t recommend that, unless you want pee on your head.
I’ll ask to move to social. lol.
@That’s ok. I was going to say sorry mods.
I can read and pee, pet my dog and pee, never tried the T-shirt thing, but I can’t imagine that it would distract me . . . hmmm, subject for deep thoughts . . .
Feel free to experiment and report back with your findings. :)
I have the opposite problem. I can pee while doing anything. It’s the labors.
Really? While I am peeing, I can slam my head repeatedly against the tiles above the urinal.
You would think that the hardest way to go pee would be to concentrate on peeing.

Waterfall. Dripping Faucet. Rain outside. Swimming Pool.
This happens to me too. Especially when someone is trying to talk to me when I’m trying to pee. I get stage fright very easily when I’m peeing.
One word: lithium!
You won’t be able to stop peeing—your bladder will always be full.
I’ve perfected the “hands free” method whilst pointing percy at the porcelain.
This allows me to send text messages & scratch my arse, all at the same time.
Who said us blokes can’t multi task eh, who…....who?
I can do things that occupy my mind while I’m peeing (reading, talking on the phone), but not anything physical. There’s no way I’d be able to pee while taking off my shirt, unless it was one of those moments @Simone_De_Beauvoir refers to, when you can’t do anything to stop peeing.
Side note: Has anyone ever tried to take a sip of a drink while peeing? I swear, it cannot be done. Well, not by me, anyway!
Haha! I have no idea if this is normal. It’s not the case for me. I think I actually pee better when I’m not focused on it.
@augustlan So trying that next time.
@augustlan I can read and talk on the phone while peeing, I just can’t change my shirt or reach for something or do anything physical.
@ANef_is_Enuf My kids say I can’t walk and chew gum at the same time not a great multi-tasker, physically. Maybe it’s all related?
Okay! I’m back with a verdict! I can totally drink while peeing. Sorry Auggie.
