I am SURE this has been asked many times before, but I’m new & curious what you look forward to. Personally, mashed potatoes & crab quiche tickle my fancy.

The stuffing is always my favorite part.
My favorite thing to eat is the leftovers, the next day. We take all the turkey, stuffing, veggies, and gravy, and make a pot pie out of it, using the mashed potatoes as the top crust. SO GOOD. Got the idea from someone here on Fluther last year, and it was better than the actual Thanksgiving meal, itself! We liked it so much, we cooked another turkey later in the winter, just so we could do it again.
The veggies, scalloped corn, cauliflower with cheese sauce, spuds, and the stuffing, scalloped oysters and then the good conversation after the initial face stuffing.
Dressing (cornbread) with gravy.
Holiday green beans.
Brussels sprouts with pancetta.
peas with butter and salt
creamed onions
mmmm. So simple. Boil small white onions (maybe an inch in diameter) until soft. Put in butter, cream, salt and pepper and I could eat it all day! Just the right amount of crunch, softness and fat and liquid. It’s like making love to your tongue.
Our family tradition is Potato Salad. I am watching calories these days so we probably won’t have it this year. :-(
@Judi T-day is one day to forget the calories and enjoy the traditions. You’ve got 364 other days you can count calories. Plus you look pretty hot right now. :)
There’s always a “reason” to consume more calories. I’m going to try to keep that meal under 1200 There will probably be another 1000 throughout the day so I will have to spend a few days before and after making up for it. That’s the problem with being short and female. Without counting any exercise, I only get about 1300 calories to maintain 130 lbs. Luckily, I work out and buy myself 300–500 extra calories a day. As much as I love my potato salad, it’s not worth 500 calories a serving to me.
Homemade mac & cheese… yummmmmm.
The next day: sandwiches with turkey, bacon, dill pickles, tomatoes, lettuce and mayo; leftover stuffing with hot gravy; cranberries and pie.
Our next day sandwiches have bread (of course) mayo, turkey, chestnut stuffing, cranberry sauce and lettuce. Pie is breakfast the next morning. What a treat!
Dessert. I have a bit of a sweet tooth :) The dinner is always great, but I ration it so that I will still be hungry for pie and ice cream.
@wundayatta I eat pecan pie for breakfast the next day, too. :)
Green bean casserole all the way with stuffing and gravy.
For me it’s always been the noshes. I delight in cheeses, fruits, olives, pickled nom noms and interesting bread/pastries.
I like all of it but the jelly cranberry sauce and the dressing together are exceptionally good I think.
