Brain acting on previous memories?

Asked by Trance24 (3311points) May 14th, 2008

Do you think your brain subconsciously remembers things for you, even if you are not thinking about it as present. And then causes you to perform some action towards the thing you didn’t remember. Ex. Last night I decided to pack my lunch for school, I never do it. And even when I want to I barley ever motivate myself to do so. Today when I got to school I was reminded I had o take an AP exam, which would mean I would miss my lunch period and have no lunch. But by chance I had packed one, even though I never do. My question is did I get the impulse to make a lunch because my brain was remembering something, even though I wasn’t thinking about it. And then the impulse came about because of it.

Definitely yes. I like to review a project I am doing, take in all the input I have, and then go away from it for several hours or even better overnight. When I sit down to work on it again, I almost always find I have an angle of attack at the least and often organized words that just flow even if I have spent no conscious time thinking about the writing project in between. I love putting my subconscious to work.

Yes! I recently remembered to mention something I had observed to my bf which saved him from performing unnecessary and difficult plumbing work.

I was just marvelling yesterday about how normally I wouldn’t have said anything about it, but for some reason, it popped into my head days after I noticed it, so I told him.

Then tonight I see this question here… synchronicity?
