NSFW(!) Why is it that most Japanese women in their adult film industry do not seem to enjoy it?

Maybe it just seems that way to you, kind of cultural blindness…I don’t want to make any conclusions about Japanese women by watching their porn…but I have noticed what you noticed…I keep talking that they’re always meowing like kittens or making high-pitched sounds…I have jokingly analyzed these videos and said that the men must infantilize their women and like that they sound like defenseless children.

In their culture, the men want women to be submissive and defenseless. If they enjoy sex, the men don’t feel as dominant.

That must be why hentai is so blown out of proportion lol. An element of balance goin on. I don’t know much about Japanese culture besides their horror movies. I’ve heard a few times what the two users above me said though. It’s a culture, to this day, very strong on discipline and social status, so maybe their porn plays a hand with the style it has?

The only Japanese porn I’ve seen, either by mistake (emailed link) or for medicinal purposes were of Japanese women either simulating being raped, being raped, or looking like they’d prefer to be anywhere else, maybe even raped.

I’ll just add that I have seen some good hentai, but yeah, a lot of it is the quiet submissive stuff which gets boring fast. Good quality stuff is hard to find.

@Symbeline Yeah, mangas are better than most hentai movies, some of the flash games are alright, but nothing new really ever comes out.

A useful exercise in this case would be comparing amateur Japanese porn to ‘professional’ (or studio) Japanese porn. The latter would be likely to market reassuring gender roles to its male audience, which accounts for the so-cute-and-helpless-as-to-be-infantile pattern that dominates it (i.e. Japanese studio porn). Amateur porn, having no image to sell or gender to reinforce, might be more honest in its depiction of reciprocable pleasure, but I wouldn’t know.

It’s commonly said that the implementation of Article 9 in Japan’s constitution represented a sort of sociocultural ‘emasculation’, and that the post-war culture is noticeably more feminine. Anyone familiar with Japan will know that anime and manga characters are often androgynous. Ditto male popstars, ditto male movie stars.

Maybe this blow to the male gender (or more accurately the ability to perform the male gender) created a desire in men for a similarly altered female gender, that is: more feminine, more passive, and always willing. The resultant super-feminine gender is, as far as I can tell, just a performative fiction that’s encouraged by male populations insecure with their own maleness.

Hence the Japanese term Lolita complex. Hence rape porn, which in Japan often depicts a young woman or schoolgirl being raped in a public, male-dominated space like a railway car.

FWIW and in case anyone was wondering: gay Japanese studio porn is the same. The man getting fucked makes similar annoying noises, squirms, etc. It’s not very fun to watch. It’s actually quite interesting because they’ll often market their models as ‘straight’ and ‘athletic’, but the gender being performed on camera hardly jibes with those descriptors.

I mean, it often starts out as a couple just taping their sex and sharing it with other people, but then it often moves on to figuring out that you can sell it to other people, and then figuring out that the customers really like this one thing, so you’ll do that one thing more, and before you know it, the amateurs have become professionals…
