Was Jesus Black?
I’ve heard some pretty convincing arguments but I want to hear what the collective has to say.

Do you know very many black jews outside of Ethiopia? Historically, it’s unlikely but not impossible.
i dont believe that jesus was black. He was a Jew in middle east.
I love how Jesus is always pictured as being white. He lived in the middle east for christs sake how naive can you be?
I imagine him to be dark skinned much like our brothers in the middle east but then again I don’t know if you can tan that dark in heaven and I hope to not know that for very time.
try asking him, pray much? in the Bible is repeatedly says “ask and ye shall recieve, knock and it shall be opened unto you” ask the big man.
If Jesus is truly the hypostatic union of the theanthropic person…...does it really matter his ethnicity?
Since Jesus was jewish then I would image that he had olive skin, probably black curly hair and a Semitic nose. Europeans have envisioned him with white skin and caucasian features because that’s what most of them were.
I really don’t care much what he looked like – I know that’s what your question was on. But I think what he looked like means very little in the grand scheme of things. This man claimed to be the son of effin gaw, and although I don’t believe he was, I care far more about what he said than what he looked like while he said it.
That question brings up the confusion that went on in my head a couple months ago at the dollar store when I saw 2 different figures of Jesus, one black and one white. All I could of was how cruel it was for the dollar store to forget all those other ethnicities out there! Asians and Latinos should have their own Jesus figurine too! Also….my mom only buys black santas, jesuses, angels or whatever else for Christmas or whenever. Once I got her a birthday card with a cartoon of a white mother and daughter and she flipped.
@nayeight – that worries me, does your mother…walk the walk per say? Or is she more concerned with the ethnicity of these “great” historical figures?
But I agree with the idea of every ethnicity having their own colored figure. Or better yet – a transparent Jesus figure!
Hold on, I’ll go ask him…............
the real question is was Santa claus black. LOL
Well idk what walking the walk means but my mom is all for black power and stuff. Sometimes I think she discriminates against whites. Shes totally against mixed marriages and once she said that whites are okay as our friends but to have romantic involvement with them and children is out of the question. I think there still are a lot of blacks out there old and young who feel that way. I also think more black women feel that way than men because my dad doesn’t care who I marry.
I really think older generations still have a lot of racism. My grandparents do, let’s just kill most of it off with our generation.
It’s a strong possibility!
@Soundedfury – There are actually many Black Jews in Uganda, not just Ethiopia.
and don’t forget Sammy Davis Jr.
Yeah, but there weren’t black Jews in Uganda in the 1st century, at least not that we’re aware of. The jews of Ethiopia are even part of the original 12 tribes, as shown by modern genetics.
@nayeight: I never really thought about latino and asian Jesuses. Since many white Christians think of Jesus as white (often with red hair) despite his semitic heritage, there isn’t any good reason that Christians of other races shouldn’t envision Jesus in their own phenotype as well. I’d be curious to see what they came up with.
1) I don’t know. Nobody really does.
2) It depends on your definition of black.
3) The Apostle Paul preached that he was all things to all people in order to bring them closer to the Father, so one could argue that Jesus is willing to be black if you need him to be.
No!....contrary to what Popery has led you to believe…Jesus was WHITE!
@viceseay what proof do you have?
@Vicseay- How do you figure that a semite from near the dead sea would have been born a white man?

Wow. Vicseay…..I’m sensing a bit of white supremicism.
If Jesus loved all people, why would it matter what race he was?
None of us were there, so claims to his physical appearance are quite arbitrary…one thing that can be ascertained-if he did exist, he was of the human race.
@Vicseay- I sure hope you’re yanking our chain and don’t really believe that horseshit.
