What kind of glue/epoxy should be used to glue a car part together?

Asked by Ponderer983 (6416points) November 22nd, 2011

I have this cover on my bumper that falls off, so I just bought a new one and figure to “glue” it on to keep it in place. What kind of epoxy is used to glue car parts together? I believe it’s plastic or fiberglass seeing as though it’s the bumper.

You should be able to pick up some trim adhesive or 3m makes some 2 sided tape that could be used for the same application. Clean the bumper well either way.

I stake my life on JB Weld. Probably the best epoxy system available to the public. We use it for All manner of bonding/glueing chores

I would think an auto parts house would have something to do just that, being that cars are plastic heavy secured with adhesives or brittle plastic clips.

I put in five hours a day restoring vehicles. The 3M weather strip adhesive is excellent. Don’t get yellow… get the black. If using two sided tape, get the outdoor variety. JB Weld is great for filling holes.
